Is anyone else as surprised as I am that he kept all these slides? Most photographers would have thrown most of them out, since so many of the images are unfocused, blurry, and dark.

Unfocused and blurry was part of his style, I think :)

What Guccione collection?

After Guccione died, his estate was plundered by debt collectors, who sold off everything they could get their hands on, including thousands of slides he had shot of many Penthouse Pets over the years. They were put up for auction as the "Guccione Collection." If you look at the threads for models like Laura Doone, Wendy Blodgett, Angela Nicholas, Jolanta Von Zmuda, and many others, you'll see lots of those pix there.

Ok, didn't know Bob was in such bad financial straits. I thought maybe he had pics of some celebs that we hadn't seen before. Oh well.

So much potential in these shots. So much we've lost because Guccione missed the day in photography class when they covered the use of fill flash.
