Naked 'in the flesh'...on stage nudity.

Following on from some posts on the TV shows with topless scenes, I thought that it might be better to have a new thread, just for plays you have seen where the actress (or actor) gets naked on stage. Alas, I doubt if we will have many photos or video, but a nice description of who and what you saw would be nice.

I have seen many plays shows (starting with Oh Calcutta in 1977) that include nudity and will kickstart this thread with a report on Hysteria, which I saw in Chichester (UK) about 9 years ago.

The play revolves around a meeting between Freud and Salvador Dali, the painter. Freud is in his house when a young woman (Alison McKenna) tries to break in during a storm. She is wet and offers to dry her clothes, she undresses under a blanket. The play has a lot of 'farce', she is discovered like this and makes a run for it, when I saw the play, she had panties on, a friend saw it a week after......and she was fully nude! Time of the month????

This was the 'nudity' we had been warned about in the programme, so I sort of 'switched off. and just enjoyed the play. However, in a really amazing scene, where the stage is transformed into a Dali painting (the clock melts, amongst lots of other clever stuff), as Freud has an halucination. He watches the girl run out of his house (actually through the 'tunnel' the audience come in through, it is an open set) attached to a string (cannot remember how or why). He then winds in the string and we see a new character (we had only heard her from off stage) of his niece. She has a rope (the string turned into a rope!) around her waist......and that is all she is wearing. I wish I still had the programme to see who she was, because this girl was stunning, the knot of the rope hid some of her pubes, but not all!

As if this was not enough, following her came about 10 fully naked men and women (8 women and 2 men) who walked around the stage area and into the audience. These (so I found out later) were meant to be a preminition of the holocaust. One naked lady stood about 6 inches in front of me, it was really quite odd. The women were anything from 20 to about 60ish in age.

After that, the play continued, without any more nudity:(.

It is a great play and is often on tour around the world. I am not sure if all the versions have the 'mass nudes' because I later found out this was the directors idea. She put an advert in the local paper asking for 'stage struck ladies required for a play'.....nudity required!

Great idea Pedro, thanks for starting the thread. All the theatrical nudity I've seen is post 1995 but I hope it's ok to post about them.

I will start in 2007 as it's a rare one with a couple of photos.

Alice Coulthard currently of Emmerdale appeared in Keeler at the Gatehouse. She had one nude scene and two or three topless scenes. A pic from the rear view of the nude is below. There may have been brief bush flashes as she was undressing and covering up after that scene but it was too quick.

The absolute highlight was a topless Stacey Cadman dancing in a tiny thong.

Flesh Dance (1983)
http://www.iafd.com/title.rme/title=...lesh-dance.htm

The quite fuckable Shana Evans (and other ladies) does a nice dance on stage and off.

There was another film where Nina Hartley is pulled onstage by male stripper Billy Dee, they dance and eventually fuck onstage. Don't remember the title, though.

I heard that diana rigg was naked in the stage play, 'abelard & Heloise,' many moons ago and francesca annis also flashed her bush in one of shakespeare's plays on stage too. I have no further info on either.

I saw Sheila Ruskin and Brenda Blethyn in a production of Steaming about 25 years ago. I was in a front stall seat. Bliss!

Georgina Hale was supposed to be in it as well but unfortunately her part was taken by her understudy for that performance

I found the film with Nina. It was her first one, "Educating Nina" from 1984. I'm sure you can find it (and screencaps) on this board.

Vienna: Lusthaus (revisited)

On the night of Saturday, January 18, 2003, I was fortunate enough to be sitting in the second row of McCarter theatre in Princeton to witness something truly extraordinary. The New York Theatre Workshop had come to town to reproduce a work entitled Vienna: Lusthaus, a work originally produced in 1986 by Music-Theatre group. The response to the original production was so positive and overwhelming that the NYTW had decided that it was time to recreate it, hence the newer title, Vienna: Lusthaus (revisited)

like a dream, explores the unconscious world of Vienna
at the beginning of the twentieth century-
in music and movement and texts-
fragments of a lost, shattered world,
taken from the paintings of Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt,
from the casebooks of Sigmund Freud,
from the dreams of his patients,
from letters and journals and diaries:
the unconscious world from which our tormented,
waking world springs eternally.

Inspiring awe through beauty, this sublime performance (essentially a series of 31 brief vignettes, with titles such as "Two Girls, Music Box," "Girls Nude Duet," "Male/Female Nude Duet," "Men's Club," "Sweet Girls," "Skating/Winter Sequence," "Rat," "Dead Soldier," and "Rigormortis"), while wonderfully ethereal and dreamlike in tone (a diaphanous gauze curtained upstage served to enhance this nebulous quality), cut very deeply to the core of human emotion, as it dealt boldly and unapologetically with these things which are the concentrated substance of life itself: nature, anatomy, love, music, sex, awareness of self and others, relationships, death. The result was fine art of the highest order, a fantastical and ineffable work, evoking a profound visceral response from within even the most staid audience member.
The nude scenes evidenced the beautiful, lustrous, full black triangles of the female performers. Each had an abundance of pubic hair. It has since occured to me that within the world of art, be it serious photography, painting, or performance, whenever or wherever female nudity is the focus, thankfully, women with pubic hair remains standard.
And so while many of us lament the current trend of obsessive shaving, the hairless mons being so ubiquitous, it is indeed refreshing to consider that at least within the realm of visual arts, pubic hair is predominant.

Nude European Stage?

It appears that they appear to be far more "tuned in" to nude stage scenes on the continent and certainly see nothing wrong in showing selected (nude) scenes from theatre plays on their mainstream TV - something I've yet to witness over here in the unbelievably sexually repressed UK.
On my searches via the web I managed to pick up a couple of these scenes, but don't know if anyone would be interested in seeing them because the actresses who appear in them are completely unknown to me.
Anyone interested?
