Songs that make you cringe or feel ill

You know the sort of thing I mean. You hear a song on the radio, or at a friends' house and you cringe each time you remember it or it is heard on said radio. Perhaps there is one song that you dread hearing because it is just too twee or makes you feel physically sick(what our American cousins would call barf-making!):D

I would cite the following that are cringeworthy or twee or just so sickly sweet it is almost too much to bear:

Tonight I Celebrate My Love for You-Roberta Flack
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face-also by her- Both are Pass the sickbags!

Loving You-Minnie Ripperton, twittering away like a lovesick schoolgirl-yeuch!!!

Close to You-The Carpenters-okay a good combo but please too much sprinkling of pixie dust in this one

She's Out of My Life-Michael Jackson. What the hell did he know about relationships at that young age oh yes and BEN-to a rat-what's all that about?

It's Raining Men-the Weathergirls-probably one of the worst records ever yet revived by Geri Halliwell!!

The Police-Miss Gradenko-now don't me wrong, one of the best groups ever and my first ever band encountered in 1979 but this was off their successful Every Breath You Take album but it is awful and not written by Sting!

And finally...Aerosmith-I Don't Want to Miss a Thing(soundtrack from movie Armageddon 1998) toe-curlingly awful and played to death on radio stations like MAGIC 104.9 Stick to rock n roll Steven! Armageddon out of here!!

Now it's your turn...:D

"Shooting Star" by Bad Company. I hate this song. I would rather listen to Rush Limbaugh or Howard Stern bloviate for 5 minutes than listen to this song.

"The Name Game" by Shirley Ellis. Bo-bana fo-fana my ass.

Anything by Tears for Fears.

Wow... this could be an extensive list:

Eagles: Hotel California (actually, anything where Don Henley sings)
Lynyrd Skynyrd: Free Bird or Sweet Home Alabama
Phil Collins: In the Air Tonight
Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody
Led Zep: Stairway to Heaven
Boston: Anything off the first album
Scorpions: Rock You Like a Hurricane and There's Noone Like You
Foreigner: Jukebox Hero
Styx: The Best of Times
Kansas: Carry On My Wayward Son
John Mellencamp: anything (did this bloke EVER have a good day?)
Neil Young: Southern Man (ditto on ever having a good day)
Journey: Any Way You Want It

Give me a chance, I'll think of more :D

"(You're)Having My Baby" by Paul Anka. I'm sure expectant fathers loved it,but as a 10 year old when it was released,it was just awful. If I could respectfully disagree with Greenman,I thought "Miss Gradenko" was catchy with a good guitar solo, whereas Andy Summers' "Mother",from the same album was pretty irritating. Great topic!

I'll avoid the easy ones (ie) any disco.

If - Bread, David Gates was capable of so much more.

oh please, don't get me started!

Nothing Compares To U - Sinead O'Connor.
I used to be besotted with a woman who'd previously lost her Gold Miner partner in an auto crash. She claimed this song reminded her of him and i don't begrudge anyone anything, but she turned out to be the most supreme game player I've ever met. She left me on my birthday to return to a previous lover, a white South African with an assumed name, pretending to be German.
Same woman also loved Gary Moore's 'Still Got the Blues For You', which proved to be a real PITA, when you're in a bar band and this was part of your repetoire, back then.
Had her and 'Bob' dance in front of me on one occasion.

Later, anything on the first Garbage album (which i love again now :)), but couldn't listen to for a long time. Different woman, different story.

German gangster rap in general. Man, where to start?

Firstly, these are just people trying to earn money with the fact that they have remained intellectual toddlers. Secondly, they imitate their American models in a country that has no real gang problem, an extremely low crime rate and one of the toughest gun laws in the world. They are laughed at by real gangsters, and are proud of it (LOL:rolleyes:). Thirdly, their purely material attitude reflects a enormous inferiority complex, mainly towards women. And this though guy posturing appears pretty gay. Fourthly, they like to play with toys (gas pistols, ROFL :D:D) but don't do military service. The Turkish version of this total assclownery is of the opinion they were the black people of Germany. Does it go more idiotic?

Once, i had one of these little monkeys on my back. That was no tough guy at all. (LOL :)). They are just total assclowns.
