here’s one Pinterest post, and another post doubting the validity of the pic(s). http://img293.imagevenue.com/loc24/t..._123_24lo.jpeg http://img193.imagevenue.com/loc222/...123_222lo.jpeg I also saw the photo credit going to a photographer named Andre de Dienes. as far as providing some evidence, I’ll just state what seems obvious to me; Audrey was very thin. like, really thin. look at her body in this image I reupped. there are better examples of her general build. (like torta’s post above, #144) http://img23.imagevenue.com/loc485/t...123_485lo.jpeg the model(s) in the nude pics are fuller & bigger than Audrey in almost every way. no nude pics exist in this thread. btw, is there any solid proof that it really is her? sorry, yes it’s just my opinion. but I think I’m right here. I just don’t see it. :o |
Not Audrey Hepburn
Hi there!
This always seems to be labeled as paparazzi style shot taken while she was unaware, but looking at them closely & it's obvious they are posed shots. Everything around the model is plainly set up, look at all the pretty items around the scene. Body type should also be a big clue. As ballyhoo points out, Audrey Hepburn was very thin & the woman in the photos has a fuller "pin-up" style figure. There's a series of these, including the above discussed image, by Andre de Dienes, here's some of the same model with the same hairstyle but showing her face, clearly not Audrey Hepburn. https://t26.pixhost.to/thumbs/196/90...nes-bath-1.jpg https://t26.pixhost.to/thumbs/196/90...nes-bath-2.jpg https://t26.pixhost.to/thumbs/196/90...nes-bath-3.jpg Compare the bath tub taps & they match the tub in the supposed Audrey shot. Think it all adds up to being convincing proof these are not Audrey Hepburn. :) Hope this is of use! |

shots before. but I couldn’t remember exactly where, or who the model might be. I found a reply (blog) who did say they thought it was Audrey. but as you see or read, he doesn’t remember the magazine name, and saw it in the 90’s. http://img205.imagevenue.com/loc430/...123_430lo.jpeg btw, my apologies for not putting my original post into a discussion thread. oops! |

as far as the Audrey debate goes, these pics are supposedly from 1956. by 1956, she already had “Roman Holiday” (1953) and “Sabrina” (1954) under her acting belt, and she was a legitimate star. so why pose nude? that just doesn’t make any damn sense to me. plus, it’s not her. period. :o |
The book from whence it came
"nice detective work, PoloMintGuy!"
Thank-you ballyhoo! :) "I found a reply (blog) who did say they thought it was Audrey. but as you see or read, he doesn’t remember the magazine name, and saw it in the 90’s." Like you I also came across that response, lots of details on what went on during the shoot but short on any supporting facts. bourschwa said: "This post says the photographer was Peter Basch." We can narrow down the authorship of the photo to two possible people. The photo appears in the book, Best Nudes, Vol. 1 (1979). Which features work by two photographers, Andre de Dienes & Peter Basch. https://t26.pixhost.to/thumbs/196/90...l-1-1979-1.jpg https://t26.pixhost.to/thumbs/196/90...l-1-1979-2.jpg https://t26.pixhost.to/thumbs/196/90...l-1-1979-3.jpg https://t26.pixhost.to/thumbs/196/90...l-1-1979-4.jpg The book should have a plate index or be sorted in sections identifying the photographer which would clear it up. Barring access to that I'm sticking with the attribution of authorship to Andre de Dienes because the photo in my previous post, with what appears to be the same model & bath tub, has Andre de Dienes stamped on the back. Not that I've a stake in proving authorship either way, just like to give credit to the correct artist. :) This definitely rules out the common paparazzi claim of origins for the photo & should end any lingering doubts about it being Audrey Hepburn. Though I'd have thought the clear discrepancy in body shape would have done that long ago. I often find that people wanting something to be true can override gut instincts & common sense. :) Hope this is of help! |
