Tanks!!

Sorry guys

As well as loving nylon stocking clad lesbians - I love TANKS!

Be they German, Israeli, American, Russian etc. I love them. And I love mechanized infantry.

I make models off them.

So Gentleman please post 1 picture of your of your favorite tank together with a sentence or two saying why.

Gentleman I give you you my all time eye pleasing classic the Mid Production Tiger1 in service with the 101st SS SchwerPanzerAbteilung, April 1944.http://thumbnails6.imagebam.com/1883...4188304867.jpg

I love its looks. It may have been complicated, expensive to manufacture, maintain etc. Nevertheless it had a kill ratio of 11 to 1 in Russia and 8 to 1 in Western Europe.

But the Germans couldn't produce enough of them despite the kill ratio. And in 1945 the British Army had 1200 Comet tanks which was more than a match for anything from Germany .Also by the end of the war the Centurion was in production. This was one of the most successful tank designs ever particularly when used by the Israeli Army.

The Chieftain. Has a considerable place in my affections. Best in the world of its time (apart from the powerplant, which gave the enemy a lovely indication it was there withthe plume of filthy smoke it chucked out when starting). Drove one once...

M4 Sherman or as the German's used to call them the "Tommy Cooker"
http://s13.postimage.org/4w4evzwoz/Sherman_M4.jpg

It got its horrific nickname from early variants which when hit by German shells would often "brew up". This was due to a combination of obsolete armour, unprotected shells, and the highly flammable fuel stored inside.
In service from 1942 till the mid fifties in various incarnations almost 50,000 were built.

The Sherman Firefly,Whereas the M4 was a good general purpose tank,The Firefly was a purebred Panzer Killer,Mounting a British 17 Pounder anti tank gun,It was the first Allied tank that could take on the Tiger and the Panther on nearly equal terms..

Yes, but the longer barrel (nice to see the camouflage on that print, an attempt to disguise it) made it a prime target for tanks and A/T gunners.

Shermans were also known as 'Ronsons' by the British, after a well-known brand of cigarette lighter, whose slogan was 'always lights first time'.

I`d pass on the Tiger tanks as despite the hype they were of an unbalanced design , and prone to getting stuck due to being far too heavy .

Nope i`m a Panther fan

As it was cheaper to produce ,has speed and maneuverability on a par with (Depending on the driver even faster than) the T34. Had the same engine as the Tiger but that`s where the similarities ended. This bad boy could go anywhere and fast !. Front armour was stronger than the Tigers . Although it wasn`t built to sit behind some bushes waiting for the enemy. It was for open country charging , flank slicing and also trooper blasting. Very accurate even from long range plus with better penetration than the Tiger.

If only corners hadn`t been cut concerning the main drive it would have been a near perfect machine. Mind you if they`d simply concentrated on producing just this one design corners wouldn`t have had to be cut in the first place.
