Discussion - Jane Warner
Hi. I am fairly sure I saw a hardcore set in a Dutch magazine @the early 80s which featured the lovely and memorable Jane under the name "Jessica". It may have been a one off. It may not have been her (though as all members of this forum know, she has one of those distinctive faces). It was a bit of a shock but have been unable to track down the magazine.

I am pretty sure that Jane wouldn't do hardcore, she didn't/doesn't seem to me to be the type of girl to do so in fact a number of page 3 girls didn't do porn because they were making more money on panel shows and some in films in cameo roles so Samantha, Linda, Maria etc became more acceptable because of their tv appearances. Jane also has had a lot of trouble with her back over the years-I once contacted her and she told me that she turned down some work due to being in a lot of pain. I hope she has it under control now.

A touchy subject,as during the 1990s a sunday newspaper claimed she was was working as an escort, which she strongly denied. So slightly unsure about even mentioning that (as I don't know if any complaints were brought and/or won).

I do find it very annoying and puzzling that the self same newspapers that build up and promote their girls or indeed others, find the need to slag them off when there is even a whiff of scandal-proved or otherwise. These girls promote not only the paper but the reputation(such as they are) of the papers too. The Page 3 ideal was explained several times as the sort of 'girl next door type' mixed with the wholesomeness of a girl that wanted to better themselves, albeit taking off their clothes. It is hard to believe that a topless girl would so much as warrant a raised eyebrow these days, yet the page 3 girl came in for so much stick, mostly from feminists who found it degrading-to themselves yes, but ask ANY page 3 girl if she felt degraded and the answer would be no. It was all the jet-set lifestyle and if you were lucky appearances in films and television.
It seems odd now, what with the present climate and how the Internet has created a more predatory menace, but years ago the sight of a page 3 girl topless on page 3 or a celebrity(and not the sort of reality garbage you get these days where any tomasina, davina or harriet can become famous for going topless on your tv) taking their tops off was seen as almost bringing Britain into disrepute. We finally woke up and accepted this as the norm. Other countries didn't bat an eyelid if a girl walked down the street or on a beach topless but Britain in the early 80s was a bleak, desolate place, with a hated Government and very little prospects of jobs or a future in some cities. The Page 3 girl brightened up that outlook somewhat. What really annoyed me though was the so-called scandals. If a page 3 girl so much as did more than pose prettily on a page or appear on a panel in a game show(Blankety Blank, Celebrity Squares etc had Linda Lusardi, Samantha Fox and Maria Whittaker for instance) the papers would jump on it in banner headlines. Jilly Johnson has publically said that it was around in her days modelling but with a jet-set lifestyle came the pitfalls of drink, drugs & sex, two of the worst to get caught up with and some girls did (I won't name others because I have a lot of respect for the page 3 girls-as some of you may have seen) indeed some have been members here. Nowadays, the page 3 ethos has been hijacked by sleazier newspapers like the Sport who expect their models to drop their knickers and sooner or later get into porn(soft or hard) and I think the phrase 'page 3 girl' has now become more of a hackneyed cliché(outdated) The best thing to do is never believe anything you read in the papers-Twitter, Facebook or the model's own website(should she have one) is probably the best place to find the truth straight from the model's mouth herself. |
Yes, I've always found it a little unpalletable that the same papers are so quick to slag when it suits them.... not only models too, but all our sports 'stars' too.......!!!
Kirsten Imrie was only a few years back found living on a park bench in London wasn't she??? supposedly too skint to even have a flat...... do the papers think we don't know that she could have gotten a council flat and benefits if she'd been so hard up...??? As someone famous once said, "today's papers are tomorrow's fish and chip wrappers".... though they clearly didn't foresee hygiene rules stopping even that these days, they just get recycled instead....!!! Finally, I also find it odd that there is still a call to ban p3 from The Bun, as some groups find it distasteful in this 'modern society'..... Are they not aware how easily kids can access porn or worse on the net; making the removal of such an institution from the papers seem simply petty and pointless...??? |
I would agree with your sentiments and comments about Jane on this. I just remember seeing this magazine and my mouth dropping open as remember her from the slightly saucy/risque school of topless models and this was pretty hardcore. It is very possible that there is a doppelganger of hers I did see but I have a pretty good memory and I thought that the "Jessica" in the mag was the same as Jane. Perhaps I should not have raised this issue.

Jane was and always will be one of my favourite all time page 3 models, she not only had a beautiful body but a gorgeous smile and the few times i ever remember seeing her getting interviewed she came across as warm and friendly.
Just out of curiousity i know jane stopped modelling a few years ago but i had heard she had started doing some work recently again is that correct? |

Her old website used to have an address, she was based in Brighton. I do know the last time I contacted her-she used to be a member of my Yahoo page 3 group, she told me that she wanted to look after her Mum and that she suffered from back problems.
