I got the point that they gotta make money, but there's other ways to do it and since I, still no explanation why my virus scanner goes crazy with most of them.

Other than that I am still wating for an explanation why pix cant be uploaded to a file hoster like u got so many and take so little effort.

I guess some virus scanners are more sensitive than others, we get reports of malware/virus warnings attached to certain images/links, but when I click on them my MacAfee does not react.

As for your second point, I want to see what I am d/l, as I like to cherry pick the images I want to save, I don't save everything a member uploads and am not interested in using a file host, I think you'll find a lot of members have similar feelings.

Lots of problems with imgbox during the last two days.
Is it suffering from a DDoS-attack?

This website is under heavy load... We're sorry, too many people are accessing this website at the same time. We're working on this problem. Please try again later.

I had a similar message a few days ago
- came back in 5 minutes for the same pic and the message was gone

Presumably its was the individual server the image was on being too over loaded

More likely excessive use of download managers by too many people sucking entire threads featuring a lot of large HD sets that causes temporary outages.

PS same message 9th 7 2018

Many uploaders choose not to use them

People have a very short memory

2012-2014 - filehosts were under severe attack after the Megaupload fbi takedown
The rapidshare eventual closure & the mediafire mass crackdown on piracy sites

Followed closely by streaming owners trying to run filehosts out of business
All up 150+ sites closed down because no credit card company would deal with them.

Even now filehosts for free users are increasingly adding
4 dmca strikes and your account is closed.

Filehost Advice & Solutions after major host takedowns.

5/2012-

Plenty of uploaders will never go back after the likes of rapidshare & mediafire
closed monster sized accounts or demanded you pay to keep them open.

Most people know with a few add-ons like ad & script blockers
annoyances on imagehosts are gone with a minimum of fuss.

Whats probably over looked is download managers bypass all of them

If your security suite is screaming you might have some vulnerablities on your PC
If your not blocking ads malvertising is a small possibility

You can put sites through virus total and more often than not they comeback clean

About imagebam

At times it annoys me that imagebam renames the files randomly. The pics in many posts form a sequence which is destroyed by this renaming after the downloading. Of course you can sort the files by the creation timestamp but when using a downloader that is not 100% accurate. Any better solution?

I have noticed lately that Imagebam has been appending six random characters to the beginning of the filename. I use a program called Rename Master which (among many, many other things) will do a batch removal of the first X characters to restore the filename. You are correct in that sorting by date doesn't always work well. I use Fast Stone Photo Resizer for my basic renaming and sorting functions. It works well. The two programs together cover pretty much all the bases for me.

DownThemAll allows you to rename in several ways, I always add a sequential 3 digit number at the beginning of the original filename as a default setting to maintain the order. It doesn't download from all filehosts but Imagebam works fine.

Thank you LadyLuck and maxedout for the tips. I use DownThemAll and I wasn't aware of the possibility of adding a sequential prefix. And I will check out also Rename Master. Many thanks :)

Even though I download the entire post and then cull out those individual images that I am not interested in before I rename and save the set I prefer image hosts to filehosts. Image Host Grabber does all the dirty work no matter what image host they post to. This is one reason I really like Viper Girls over VEF. Virtually everyone on VG uses image hosts. Some will use both but few use only filehosts. When a member here at VEF starts frequenting one of my subscribed threads and uses only filehosts they get added to my ignore list so I don't have to see their posts.
