Does anybody actually have a premium account with any file host? The thing that stops me from having a premium account is that there are simply too many file hosts in use. You could open a premium account with one, only to find the film(s) you want to download are stored on another and you can't be expected to have a premium account with every one of them.

Yes, I have 3 with different hosts.

And yes, lots of stuff on other hosts that I'm not a member of.

And yes, that annoys me lol.

Anyway, Merry Christmas peeps.

Yup sites have gone like the wild west...not the sites fault though, today many hosters come and go, if we had a stable hoster the site would call the best, as in the past.

Maybe one day, but you have a point and it reflects in posting too.

I don't know if they got paid per X amount of downloads, but one long time member on here religously used one file host ~~ for about 5/6 years ~~ and had really excellent 80s/90s softcore. A brilliant poster.Even if you had 5 or more links for a 750mb download.

But, the file host he used was rubbish for a free user. Now I read a post asking mods to delete all his links and posts. His file host may have gone down the pan, I don't know, I gave up years ago and just salivated at his posts.

I like 1Filchier. Firefox + Addblock etc. I don't see adds, but sometimes a new blank tab opens for a moment or two and then normal service.

In mid-morning European time, it's like "happy hour" and free users can download at Premium speed. I downloaded a 2.5GB film, in 3 links, in 45 minutes~~ included waiting of 9 and 3 minutes between resuming the d/l.

Whether they change in the future I don't know, but I have nothing but praise for their current service.

My only gripe with 1Filchier is the 2 months removal "if-not-used" on downloads.
Some good stuff has been removed because the uploader used a free service where this applies. Registered subscribers to 1Filchier do not get their uploads removed.

Shame.But there you go.

But they are a business...you can't expect them to host files freely forever for nothing....

Not so much it - but Firefox

This might not be the best thread for this remark, but I searched the technical section and couldn't find anything else describing this problem.
I rely on public wi-fi networks to download content referred into V-E-F. Lately, I've had a snag where a number of downloads, almost all from 1Fichier, begin and end, with good speed, on the network. But at some point during my session, something kicks in and abruptly halts a download without actually terminating it or reducing its speed. Right now, I have a file sitting in my download library. It is 48.8 MB into a 695 MB download. Its speed is showing as 2.0 MB/sec. But it has been stopped at this point for about 25 minutes (and it could have finished 20 minutes ago if it continued to download at this speed). Notably, it won't let me cancel the download either. (Library falls into [Not responding].)
On-line searches for this snag, referencing Windows 8.1 (x64) and Firefox 53/52/51/50 turn up only pleadings, "Why is my download so slow / not finishing?" - Nothing about this incident. :(
I think it has something to do with my settings in Firefox, not 1fichier.
I've tried the remarks about refreshing the history of downloads. I've tried a few tweaks in "about:memory" and "about:config".
Did not work.
I am quite hesitant to pose this query in a technical forum, because I absolutely foresee some wiseacre on those sites making a remark about trying to download pr0n?
Does anybody here on V-E-F have a solid suggestion? Do you need more data about the computer I use to download the file?

If you suspect Firefox to be the problem an obvious remedy is to try another browser or use jdownloader. Worth trying in order to pinpoint or rule out Firefox as the problem.

Sometimes it is obvious.

I believe I have solved the problem.
It was the specific flash drive I was attempting to download the movie to.
I ran error checks on it. But it turned up 'OK'.
So, I tried another flash drive the next time I attempted downloading movies referred into V-E-F.
No sudden stops. Seemingly, there were bad sectors on this previous flash drive which, when a download hit them, just caused this snafu.

I have subscribed to 1Fichier at various times in the past.

I also found that they were pretty reasonable for free users. That's one reason why I was willing to buy into their system at times.

But lately they've been impossible. A 700 mb download schedules something like three hours, and as any brief network interruption will kick you out ... well, forget that.

So, I've only tried them for downloads of tiny clips, but even that's been impossible lately. Upon using their links, I always get a fake ransomware pop-up that requires me to restart my browser. If I try again, 1Fichier imposes a timeout due to the download I didn't get, and even when I manage to resubmit, the download invariably fails.

Yet, I see more and more uploaders using their service, which means I'll have less and less interest in these boards.

Google jdownloader 2. A must have software for downloading from most hosts.
