Before I joined VEF I knew some porn actresses names. Linda Lovelace, Desiree Cousteau and Aunt Peg were known to me but I've discovered the considerable delights of Rene Bond, Colleen Brennan, Honey Wilder, Kay Parker, Brigitte Lahaie, Maria Akerlund and Laurien Dominique.

Like ultimatewarlord, I knew the names of one or two actresses before, but only the obvious ones - Ilona Staller, Linda Lovelace - and I recognised a very few others without knowing their names.

Then I found this site - I don't know how - and saw the start of Les Petites Filles with Claude Valmonte; and, hoping that the dark-haired woman at the bus stop was going to be in the film and not just an unsuspecting passer-by, and then seeing what happened next and afterwards learning her name (from here, of course), I went off and searched for "Cathy Stewart": and from there a whole new world opened up for me.

I might have discovered Lina Romay and Jess Franco without this site (I stumbled across the My Duck is Dead and World of Cinema blogs at around the same time), but I would never have found Anne (Anna?) Magle, Anne from the CC films, Leena Hiltonen, etc etc etc and etc again. And I should also mention Alban Ceray: the only male actor I would watch a porn film for, regardless of his female co-stars.

There were long Sunday afternoons when I had just started dialysis and it seemed an age before I could have my next small cup of tea when I would suck starburst sweets and beguile the time by searching through VEF for names of obscure performers, making lists of the films they were in and resolving to get them all. It was the search, the research, that was the important thing, though.


Oh dear, I've gone on too much again.

All of them - it's like a new girlfriend everyday - what's not to like!

VEF and its contributors sealed a place in my heart and on my face forever for Helen Simpson. They put the name Hillary Summers to the face of the pretty blonde blowing her boyfriend in Summer Beach House all those years ago and fed the fire that is my lifelong rage for redheads, especially beauties like Fovea and Annick.
