Drinking Tonight?

Are you having a drink today/tonight?

Why not tell us about it, is it your regular drink, will you buy it again?

Tonight I opened a bottle of Christmas Mead from the Lyme Bay Winery

http://img152.imagevenue.com/loc518/..._123_518lo.jpg

A rich honey mead blended with festive spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, cardamom, lemon and orange zest).

We bought this when visiting Scarborough Castle while on holiday last year but it got lost in the back of the cupboard. Only 10% vol so isn't very strong but is very very sweet.

My missus and our three boys don't like it so I'll have to drink it all myself. I'm sure I'll manage to force myself. :p;):D

Never had it before and probably won't buy it again because it really is too sweet but OK for a change.

Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 Brand

http://thumbnails113.imagebam.com/45...c459575459.jpg

There are many kind of whiskey out there, but I find that the Old No. 7 brand from JD has a very smooth, maple carol taste that I've come to love.

Look for it on sale though, it can be pricey if you don't know where to go!

Coffee. But a few of these before bed time, neat with an ice cube  perfect

I'm having Piraat Triple Hop:

http://thumbnails105.imagebam.com/45...0459581845.jpg

A 10.5% solid "tripel" beer, with a great taste. Belgian brew that is not so easy to find (and sometimes my local supermarket has a batch, i buy it whenever they have it). It indeed means "pirate".

"Bitter, zesty (coriander and peach), malty and alcohol aromas are the main features of this degustation beer. Its taste is a symphony of malty (caramel) and sweet impressions complemented by hop bitters with an undercurrent of alcohol.
These first impressions are followed by a long finish that is slightly sweet with a trace of hop bitters."

Check it out when you have the chance!

Malibu rum mixed with orange juice. It just tastes damn good and it's addictive.

I've just two 500ml bottles of Hacker-Pschorr Munchen Kellerbier left.

I've to be up before 06:00 so they will be gone in the next 45 minutes.

Now please excuse me, I seem to need a refill.

Tried a bit of abstinence.
No beers at all on Saturday.
Quite easy, no problems, existed quite well

Back on the booze tonight after a few swifties down a few locals this afternoon :)
Works for me.

Johnnie Walker Black Label

http://thumbnails113.imagebam.com/46...5460223584.jpg

So, it's kind of pricey, but I love the smooth texture of their Black Label.

Great pick for a work promotion as well! I usually serve mine neat, but with ice it's pretty good too!

My favorite as well, love it over ice. However, as Jake notes, it's pricey and I haven't had any in a while.

However, in the house right now are Jameson Black Barrel and Basil Hayden's bourbon. Also very good over ice.

This is a favorite of my older sister. This is also what Rick Blaine is drinking in Casablanca.

Due to my fantastic work schedule (a week off every other month due to a shift change), I'm off now till next Thursday, and am indulging in an adult beverage, or two. I'm not going to say which adult beverage (beer) it is due to the fact that you Euro brethren will mock the hell out of me based on it's lesser (than most) alcohol content. :p:D:thumbsup:

I generally stay away from the hard liquor now. When I was a yoot, a case of beer, and a fifth of Jack Daniels were the norm on a Friday evening. The Ol' Lady, and law enforcement didn't much care for my shenanigans.:thumbsup: Now, I'm older, wiser (cough...bullshit..cough...bullshit) and when I do enjoy something a little stronger, it's almost always my fav sippin' whiskey Tullamore Dew. ;)

Unfortunately my mother was a chronic alcoholic, and I inherited same (ie I'm extremely weak-willed), so I can't drink at all - I'm happy drunk or I'm happy sober, I'm not happy in between. It's been nearly two years since I had a drink, thank you Jeebus. So I'll have a glass of milk, ta.

I had the same problem with tobacco, I haven't smoked cigarettes in nearly ten years, although I did go through a period of about a year smoking cigars, and I'm sorely tempted again. My wife doesn't drink or smoke, and she tells me I should meditate to deal with stress. I can't do that, but I thought I'd like to smoke cigars instead - ya know, have a ritual, keep a humidor of a few quality stogies, and sit in the garden and spark one when I need to relieve stress. It sounds great in theory, but I'm just worried that if I start doing that, I'll 'waken the beast' once more.

But life is dull without a little indulgence, no?

Brecht January 23rd, 2016 01:42 PM

Nothing fancy this time. Just a Gösser.

You will. I've quit smoking a year and a half ago. Quitting is something I did before but this time it's really for good. There was a time when I thought a cigar couldn't do any harm but believe me, I always backslid. It's different for non-smokers who like to enjoy an occasional cigar but stay away from it if you were a (heavy) smoker like me.

What about using a pipe ?.
To smoke tobacco I mean.
In case you were thinking I meant crack.
It`s much gentler on the lungs , you look refined and can buy premium top quality ready rubbed nowadays.
There`s even an organic peach and cherry flavoured one available ... Ahem ... So I hear :o

I can't drink spirits as after a half dozen shots have the tendency to believe I can sing and dance extremely well.
When in truth I sing like somebody without vocal cords and dance like a knee capped Tiny Tim.

Currently glugging the icy cold usual

Feeling a little bit rough tonight...dunno why. Anyhow a few of these should help me feel better. Irish is the best Whiskey in my opinion (even though i have Scottish heritage, as small as it is)
