Software for trim/crop/cut movie

Not sure if it is already a thread about it, but I want to know what it is the best tool(better if it is for free), to trim/cut/crop a movie(like to crop a few parts and keep the rest), for mp4, that not need a long time to learn how to do it and easy to use(like for premiere)? I am knew to this, so I saw that some say, that after crop, the movie will be re-encoded, this it is true?

Look at Avidemux or VSDC, both free in basic form.

I'm pleased with Avidemux as well.

Avidemux can be used without reencoding. Recommended by me too.

Have a look at Openshot. Free and pretty easy to use plus available on Win, Mac and Linux.

I can echo the advise for Avidemux, which is fairly easy to use and can be used for many file formats. Don't forget to use 'copy' when just trimming or splicing.

if this doesn't work I would suggest MP4box. This one has never failed on me, but it is more manual, even with a gui. At least when I last used it.

Quick note on Avidemux:
In order to edit without re-encoding, you need to use the seek buttons. Then set your cut points. That will set it to the next "key frame".

You can of course clip it without using key frames, but then you end up messing up several seconds of video that's basically unwatchable because it doesn't have a proper key frame. If you've ever loaded a video and seen the first 5 seconds is either hung up on a single frame while the audio plays, or it's very discolored and distorted and you can barely make anything out, you've seen a video that starts without a key frame.
Some older formats like MPEG2 can also produce blocking.

another vote for avidemux. I downloaded it on the recommendations above, thanks folks, and it is very easy to work.

Agree about Avidemux, but main problem for me - cutting by "key frames". For more accurate trimming i use SolveigMM Video Splitter (but program is not free)... Program very nice cutting MP4 & FLV files, but have problems with some MKV files.
