The Firefox and Extension Thread

This thread is to help those that may not be the most competent or savvy computer users be more efficient with their computers and the software that runs on it...

First off, if you do not have Firefox, you should have a damn good excuse as to why you're not using it...I have put together some helpful hints and tips about Firefox on AF, it is a bit dated, but you can read it here...

This thread is meant to cover and explain some of the means by which I grab my VEF goodies, and hopefully they will help others...I won't limit it to downloading however, Firefox is a powerful tool and offers vast functionality...If you come across or know of an extension to help other VEF members, please do share..!

Extension Format

To make things more consistent throughout the thread, I have devised some preformatted BBCode that you can use...Should you choose to submit an extension, just copy, paste, and fill in the blanks..! Also, for clarification, these extensions are certified to run on Firefox version 3, if your extension is NOT FF3 compatible, please do mention it..!

Linkification

Extension: Linkification

Version: 1.3.5

Author/Extension Homepage: http://yellow5.us/firefox/linkification/

Mozilla Download: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/190

Description: Linkification converts text links into genuine, clickable links.

Notes: Occasionally, if you have a spanning archive, there will be multiple links...By putting those links in [ code] boxes, you can copy and paste them into your download manager...BUT, if you'd rather just click and go, this extension will turn ANY text link into a clickable one...For instance, if someone leaves the http: off of a link

eg: rapidshare.com/432421/file1.rar

Linkification will automatically convert that into http://rapidshare.com/432421/file1.rar and allow you to click it...If someone puts hxxp://rapidshare.com/432421/file1.rar, it will convert it to http://rapidshare.com/432421/file1.rar ...

Code:

http://www.rapidshare.com/432421/file1.rar
Would be a clickable link w/Linkification..! It is also fully customizable, and can be tuned site specific...Try it out..!

Because it downloads all pics on page I find it works best in conjunction with "Page Hacker" This lets you delete any stuff on the page that you don't want.

On vB, you can just view single posts to eliminate that problem...That's what I do anyway so I can sort through what's what...
