The programs that make my life easier and I strongly recommend are:

https://chocolatey.org/ - for installing and updating other programs. It makes easier and safer to install and update programs.

IrfanView - well known image viewer. The only downsize is that it has some problems with fast-playing certain gifs

File sync & backup software | Syncovery - the best app for syncing and backup tasks. It's not free but still worth the money.

Export, Download and Backup your Instagram photos

4K*Stogram is an Instagram Downloader for PC, Mac and Linux. The program allows you to download and backup Instagram photos and videos :

https://www.4kdownload.com/products/product-stogram

Recommended with a bit of caution as, once logged to your account(s), the program starts to automatically download pics and videos from the chosen accounts and/or hashtags on your pc. So beware of your INTERNET bandwidth and storage capacity !

Other programs available @ https://www.4kdownload.com/

Yeah, I too am at a loss for any image downloaders that work in MacOS, let alone in a browser.

Convoluted workaround

It's a little convoluted, but I use a Linux script in cygwin that parses domains like pixhost. I don't have a mass image downloader for pixhost that works, so I download all the image html pages with downthemall in firefox(but you could use any target downloader to do this), then parse the downloaded pages in linux(cygwin). Then wget -i the output file and voila. Sure beats downloading them one at a time(especially on sites that constantly redirect you).
Code:

#!/bin/sh

rm -rf temp1

for page in `ls -1 *.html` ; do
 echo $page
 grep pixhost $page | grep images | grep -v zoo >> temp1
done

sed "s|src: 'https|https|g" temp1 > temp2
sed "s|.jpg',|.jpg|g" temp2 > temp3

sort temp3 | uniq > temp4

The Palemoon project now has a very Beta version of their browser for OSX, called "NewMoon" out, which support Imagehost Grabber. I have tried it and it works. Its very much a development build so its not fast and a lot of things don't work well or at all -- I still use my Windows machine for this task.

But it does work on Mac once again!

For those who have little HD space

Handbrake is free video transcoder.
Handbrake can reduce your video size without quality loss. I use it for three years without any problems. Here's my movie (images below) with 2,40 Gb before, and video after transcoding. It could be up to 90%, but I wanted HD quality.

Before (2,40Gb)

After (1,30Gb)
