Fortunately I have all my scans on my hard drive (s) , so no problem there, but just a pain to have to re upload them. I plan on doing a few each day, so it won't be too much of a bother, anyway thanks effcup!

A script to automate your uploads would be very handy. So far the offerings/options are somewhat limited.

IP blocking of individuals - imagevenue

in the general imagehost thread

Just when you think you have all the possible imagehost reactions in mind along comes their
take on filehost v pirate posters

Its all guess work as to when it might be triggered in the same way members on certain filehosts can never really know when their account might be closed , blocked or culled because of too many dmca notices

Presumably if one were to bypass the block and continue on they'd
potentially delete the content or kill the account.

If being the subject of an IP block is a regular event, you may want to consider using Tor (AKA: The Onion Router) to alter your visible IP. There is even a FireFox extension to enable and disable Tor functionality at the push of a button.

I really wish I hadn't switched from Imagevenue over to ImageBam many years ago, this whole deal really sucks, not much I can do about it though

If you'd done that you probably would have lost quite a few random pics from many posts
due to the imagevenue hack of several years ago.

All hosts have had their good , bad & indifferent periods.

Thats not likely to change any time soon

Both -bam and -box have removed their notices warning of the 30 June closure, and now seem to imply continued/resumed hosting service.

I would not recommend stopping the process of saving vef material from those hosts. Better to carry on until then, or at least until the situation becomes clearer?

Maybe they only made the closure warning, to generate a lot of traffic, checking how much they can handle. :D:D:D

We are ongoing maintenance to improve reliability & stability, Uploads & all other site features will soon be available.

Sincerely,
The Team

An explanation of any sort would be nice given they have removed entire galleries of content from
2017 but left the thumbs in place - older galleries 2016 back appear intact - apart from the really old ones 2008/9 which appear 50% dead going on my own account

Al Gebra June 25th, 2017 12:38 AM

To be on the safe side we should continue saving pics posted on ImageBam for the time being.

BTW, on the positive side: using halvar's tool (version 1.24 of imagerescue) I'm able to notice former posts with some dead (full) images. The still existing thumbs were saved though. So it is easy to spot posts with dead images by searching for "thumb" on your HD (or wherever you saved the posts).

Assuming that ImageBam will be up again soon, you get the chance to edit only your own (partially dead) posts instead of rehosting the pics in all of your posts. :)

Let's use our imagination: Perhaps it wasn't a legal threat that caused them planning to shut down services but a server overload or lack of money - and a generous sponsor stepped in to solve their problems, hopefully. ;)

Imgbox

It looks like Imgbox Twitter account is back up.(was broken yesterday)

https://imgbox.desk.com/

their latest tweet: (8 hours ago)

Guys, we're back! thank you so much for the interest and support!
further information will follow shortly

Unlike imagebam , imgbox galleries appear to be intact or that just might be because i have

4000+ galleries on imagebam & just 95 on imgbox

Hallelujah !!!!
I had started replacing images with very very little enthusiasm, some I had 4 or five sites I would have had to do so

effCup June 25th, 2017 05:01 AM

It seems as if we've been very lucky, and won't have to spend days/weeks re-upping lots of stuff.
  • The next time--and there will be such, have no doubts/delusions--we may not be so lucky.
  • vef members need to diversify their hosts.
  • vef members need to back up their own content. Anything you can't afford, or don't want, to lose.
  • vef members need to back up content of (e.g. absent) other members. Anything you don't want to lose.
  • vef &/or its members need to be much more systematic.
