Help converting VOB files
Is there an easy way to convert and join these DVD9 VOB files ??
I have a free program to convert the vob files to avi , but it takes hours. Then I join the avi files in a file joiner. While image quality is good , it seems to be overwhelmed by the black boarder, so I put it through Handbrake to crop out the boarder which reduces the final frame size considerably. Is there a one stop solution for joining and converting vob files ?? |
You could try FormatFactory, which I have been using for several years. That will convert just about any type of file to any other type and that applies to images too. It also has a 'file joiner' facility, which will convert and join in one operation but I find it quicker to let it convert the files first and then join the converted files as a separate operation. When you install it, the usual warnings apply, ensure nothing else is installed with it (set off tick boxes) but otherwise it is free of adware/malware (or else I would not use it!).

Also very good and easy free program vStrip - http://www.videohelp.com/software/vStrip
Join many VOB's into one big. |
VirtualDub can do the job. Make sure you get and install all the plugins. It has many filters and lets you select video and audio format or you can direct dub.

Take a look at magicdvd Ripper

By a strange coincidence I searched exactly the same thing yesterday then found I already had something that could do it. Dead easy to use & fast.

The one that I use is AVS Video Converter
http://www.avs4you.com/AVS-Video-Converter.aspx It stitches together the VOB files the same time it converts them into just about any video format you can think of. Or you can burn them to a DVD. You can also edit the files before conversion in order to delete scenes (I use it to remove those closeups of the guy's face). |
I got Bad Gateway Information if i want to enter VEF.

You don't need to join the VOB files first, Handbrake will convert the entire movie in one go. In Handbrake, click on "Open Folder" and select the VIDEO_TS folder that contains the IFO, BUP and VOB files. The app should automatically choose the main movie, assuming it is the longest title on the disc, but you can select other titles if you want (special features, featurettes, deleted scenes, interviews, etc.) One of the things I like about Handbrake is that you can let it do everything automatically, and get pretty good results, or you can tweak the settings and customize to your heart's content. Things like cropping and final resolution/aspect ratio you might want to tinker with, if you know what you're doing. ;) |
