Due to other commitments, my visits here are likely to be sporadic, so if anyone posts something for me and I don’t reply, please be understanding.

It is a shame that I have to tell you I had another CD of scans I had collected over time where I had put all the pictures of 80’s girls - plus a few late 70’s and early 90’s - where I couldn’t ID them at the time. There were around 500 girls.

Along with some other stuff, I seem to have misplaced or lost it!:confused:

A pity - it would have made a great thread for the ID section - maybe called “The Greenman Challenge” :D although they weren’t all glamour, quite a lot of lingerie and swimwear models included. Maybe it’ll turn up one day. Hope springs eternal and all that.

One more thought on the subject of Carole Anne, with regard to something I’ve never been able to make any progress on.

Does anyone have bigger versions of these ‘thumbs’?

They are from the South African magazine “Scope”.

I understand that at least one of these pics, may have been credited as being of Carole Anne Needham and this may have been shown as that in the magazine.

I know someone very generously scanned loads of pics from those mags some time ago, but I think they were circulating before I starting using the Internet, so the only other one I ever saw larger than a ‘thumb’ I’ve added below.

Also, does anyone know of the existence of other pics of Carole Anne from this mag? On reading the text in the pic below, she had appeared more than once before (this pic is from the issue dated 18 November 1988 and 3 of the ‘thumbs’ appear to have come from much later, in 1992.)

As a general point, just out of interest, does anyone know, roughly, when this Scope magazine started publication?

herewith some more of the delicious Carol-Anne:D I would like some clarification on the first 3 pics, that they are definatley her:confused:. If so then the first one is a rather interesting one:eek: I checked carefully -but as I'm human, my apologies for any possible re-posts. This will be the fist of 3-4 posts.

Lamod, my understanding is that Scope magazine (the ONLY so called Men"s mag in S.A.) started in 1970, it then died a swift death in early 1996. It was a great men's mag and featured many gritty stories, pictures and articles, as well as many good funny photos and stories. then of course came the centerspread and a few other girlie pics scattered throughout the mag. It was published weekly and you often had to get it fast before it was banned:mad:. Why banned you may ask? Well I often hear people on this forum whine about the "draconian" British laws that did not allow you to see the girls without knickers on. Well that sort of whinging emotes little sympathy from me! until about late 1994 if you published a pic just barely showing a girl's nipple in South Africa you were banned and had the police lay charges aginst you and could cost you some nights in jail. So Scope published pics of p*ge 3 girls in bikinis and where nothing showed. Finally they would publish pics of topless girls - BUT they had to have stars covering their nipples (this ran like this for many years). When Mandela came into power and ended white minority rule in South Africa in 1994 many of our represive censorship laws dissapeared. One of them governing nudity and sex in published form. Scope proudly started showing page three girl's showing delicate shades of pink between their legs:eek:, let alone finally just what their nippes looked like:D.

However H*stler in it's hardest form, P*nthouse, Pl*yboy and Priv*te appeared very quickly and flooded the market. Short of beastiality and kiddie porn, everything was suddenly availible. Poor old Scope was now very tame and within a year or two (early 1996 I believe) it died a sudden death. There was so much more to Scope than just being the only "skin" mag for men in South Africa all those years, and often I have heard guys say they miss it and would rather have it back with all it's great articles, funny jokes and pictures, tame girlie pics etc.. then hard core H*stler mags...:(

So I have never seen even the nipples of many of the older P*ge 3 girls as posted here:eek:. Thats why I spend so much time on this brilliant site:D:D:D.

It's funny I read it as a oft-repeated theme on this forum. How we seem to get such a kick out of the "first" girls we saw pics of and suddenly started taking "notice" of how nice they looked in those pictures (in the real world at the time, to have a "girlfriend" at 12 meant you chatted and sat toghether at school break times and maybey even held hands!;)).

I enjoy finding tame pics of these P*ge three girls nowdays, more than any hard core full blown pics involving a good looking but new, unkown girl to me.

Anyhow, enough of my waffling - please find attached pics.

Some more pics as promised. Lamod, I did a local search engine search for the Scope dates in order to answer you, and in doing so discovered someone who may have the full stash of the last 4 years of Scope magazine. I will contact him and make an offer. It was published weekly so it's going to be a whole whack of mags! One of the things that I liked about Scope mag is that they always printed the girl's name on the pics (small and discrete), so you always knew who they were:). A whole lot of pics I've seen published on this site come from scans out of Scope mag.

I also found the contact details of it's long serving editor. He now edits a top newspaper. I will try to contact him to see if he could help or point me in the right direction. I doubt he will have much time for me and my little problems in life, however who knows? - Nothing ventured, nothing gained:D.

This picture has always been a bit of a mystery to me. It’s one I found on the Internet soon after I first ‘logged on’, but since then, I’ve never been able to identify its source. (I have seen Carole Anne in this outfit in an unpublished pic held in a photo library.)

Does anyone know if this is from M@yfa1r or K*ave or Cl+b? I remember having the mag but can't recall which one, would love to see the full shoot again! :p

I recognise this particular picture as having appeared in the book ‘Photographing Beautiful Women’ By Geoff Howes.

I have no knowledge of any pictures from this photo series appearing in any of the 3 magazines mentioned. The only appearance I know of Carole Anne in any of these magazines at all, was on the cover of the July 1984 issue of Cl*b.

I believe Carole-Anne is only on the cover, but I can’t quite be 100% sure, as I never bought a copy of this mag, as it was an almost identical picture to the one used in the 1988 StarBird Calendar. (As posted by Hoyya in this thread, post #91)

On a similar theme, Carole-Anne was on the cover of Gallery 10/86 and I understood she was only on the cover.

However, more recently I read somewhere that there was a photo series in this mag for a girl named “Grace” who was the covergirl. So if anyone has this mag and can confirm whether or not Carole-Anne is featured inside this mag as “Grace”, please let me know.


Going back to pl@yb0y, several years ago someone posted this pic and said it was from a Pb Newstand Special, Late 80’s.

Carole Anne in this outfit seems to be from a very elusive photo series to discover in good quality; the only other one I can recall seeing is a small ‘thumb’ of a pic from a 1987 issue of the difficult to find South African ‘Scope’ magazine.

On the subject of small thumb sized pics, there is one of Carole Anne Stevenson the Daily St*r website in their Retro Babes gallery, as a clickable link. Unfortunately, it doesn’t lead to a gallery of her pics, but to a gallery for Carol Ann Kerr. :(

I did write about a month ago and told them they’d got their Carole Anne’s mixed up and suggested they should have a Carole Anne Stevenson gallery, but I didn’t get a reply, so I won’t be holding my breath in anticipation...:D

We have seen Carole-Anne on the cover of the Spanish edition of Newlook, posted by Tun in post #80 . Here she is on the French edition published a year earlier.

They have both used the same photograph, but here she is displaying the ‘red, white and blue’ colours of the French flag on her ‘top‘, but if you look back to the earlier post - on the Spanish edition, it’s the red & yellow colours of the Spanish flag!

I wonder what the original photograph looked like…..

To the best of my knowledge, these, together with the 2 posted by “gps” in post #67, are all the known Detective Magazine covers which feature Carole-Anne, either in the main, or subsidiary picture.

The actual pics of CAS, featured on a couple of these covers, have already been posted, but here I have included the full cover for the sake of completeness.

If anyone knows the publication date of the ‘Official Detective’ cover which is the last cover posted above, please let me know. (The other ‘Official Detective’ cover with a very similar picture was published in January 1989.)

Finally, if anyone knows of other Detective Magazines which feature Carole-Anne on the cover, which do not appear here, or in post #67, please let me know the details and if you have a scan, please post it here.

The first one was issued in 2008 - it's great to see stuff from Carole Anne still appearing quite recently in these calendars; it's a pity that apart from those 'French Maid' pics that appeared in The Daily & Sunday Star in 2003, she became 'extinct' in the U.K. papers/mags many years ago. :(

Just found this one - for some reason on this cover, they didn't show the year, but I'm pretty certain its 1981, which makes this a very early mag cover for Carole-Anne (10 Aug 81) - not quite the first time Carole Anne appeared in a magazine, that's down to Fib Aktuellt on 6 July 81. I’ve been rather busy with other things and haven’t got round to logging on to VEF in the last three months, which was very remiss of me. Still busy, but taking time out this morning to post some stuff….

Despite having recorded details of Carole Anne in loads and loads of magazines, I’d never seen her in a Japanese magazine, and was beginning to wonder if she’d ever been published there. Now we can set the record straight with the first picture.

The second pic was, I believe, the first time we would have got to see Carole Anne in colour in a UK publication - this was from a motor magazine cover. Of course, in the UK, we were mostly in blissful ignorance of the fact that by this time (Sept 81), she had already appeared in several Scandinavian mags, not just in colour, but revealing those parts of her never seen on p*ge3.

A couple more pocket calendars, from 92 and 94 respectively; in the first of these, I think it’s the first outing in a published picture on VEF which shows, in part anyway, her cute yellow wellies. :D

Then a couple of covers, first one is new here, I think; second one slightly better copy (without the camera flash etc) of one posted earlier.

Finally, for ultra fans of Carole Anne, it’s worth checking out rexfeatures.com - I say ultra fans, as, of course, you’ll only see ’thumb’ sized pics. Type Carole Anne in the search box and in addition to what’s already been seen of her there, there’s now 9 black & white thumbs of her ‘relaxing on Hampstead Heath’.

I believe it was confirmed in a now deleted post that the 3rd pic was her, but with regard to the first two,
I would think quite a few of us Carole Anne fans have these, and others from the set, in our CAS collections, as they were posted on the old Carole Anne Yahoo group by one of the long term Carole Anne collectors; but they have always been a bit of a mystery to me, as I had never been able to match them to any magazine, seen any others from the set, or been able to fit them into the CAS ’timeline’; and, so, although there was a certain visual similarity and the chap who had posted them was an experienced CAS collector, there was always a question mark over whether they were her.

Well, it looks like the mystery has finally been solved and it can be confirmed they‘re not of Carole Anne! I’ve now found some of these pics in the Sharlene Woodsford thread. She’s not a girl I was familiar with, but after seeing a picture of her elsewhere where she looked similar to the ’mystery CAS’ pictures, I thought I’d check out her thread here on the VEF, and….

I guess this post should have had the heading “Does my bum look big in this?”:D

There are quite a few group shots of pg3 girls, where you can make a direct comparison of their height, body shape and boobs from the front view, but here’s one from a different perspective. Here you can compare the bums of 5 well known 80’s pg3 girls. For those of you who want to have a go at identifying them from their rear views, I’ve suppressed the ‘thumb’ of the second pic which shows the girls from the front; but, of course, when you click on the link, you’ll get the full sized pic as normal.

Even if you don’t recognise her by her hair, the fact that this is posted in Carole-Anne’s thread, does give you a pretty strong clue to the identity of one of the girls! :) Sadly, despite taking the magazine to bits to try and correctly join up the two pages; due to a printing misalignment, a bit of the pic was not printed on either page and so poor Carole-Anne had the end of one of her boobs ‘chopped off’ in the 2nd pic.:mad:

A few years ago, I remember having a conversation with someone on another forum about a pic that had appeared in the South African magazine, ‘Scope’. The pic said that it was ‘Carol Anne Needham’, which led him to believe, not unreasonably, that it was of Carol Needham.

Although I only had a small low resolution thumb of the pic in question, I was sure it wasn’t Carol Needham, as her hair was never as long as the girl in the pic, and I felt it was Carole Anne Stevenson. I don’t think I was able to convince him though.

As most of you probably know, although a lot of Scope pics were released onto the internet a few years ago, the ‘missing’ ones - which this one was one of - are as rare as hen’s teeth; but - now available here, in a decent size! There is no doubt at all, “Carol Anne Needham” is 100% Carole Anne Stevenson.

Changing continents- from Australia, a pic from People magazine 21/10/92 marking the 10th. Anniversary of CAS appearing in that publication. I’ve got a couple more from 1 June and 7 September 1987 (credit to the original scanner), and know she was in the 10 February 1986 edition in a feature about the Motorway Calendar, but apart from obviously appearing in 1982, which I don’t have, I can’t help but feel she must have been in other editions between 82 and 92. Are there any CAS fans ‘down under’ who can add to her ‘People’ appearances? She also appeared in ‘Australasian Post’ at least once….

I wonder if anyone here ever attended one of Jon Gray’s Amateur Photographer Roadshows in the late 80’s, in particular where Carole-Anne was one of the models. I remember there was a chap on the old Carole-Anne Yahoo group who had attended one in the Midlands and had taken some pictures of her, which he thought he still had somewhere, but he didn’t have a scanner. (Are you here on VEF??) If anyone else has any CAS pics they took at one of these, or a similar event, and would like to share them with us; I, and I’m sure, lots of others would be delighted to see them.

I couldn't believe when I checked back here that, with so many great posts, there was anything I could contribute. But one of these is a somewhat bigger and hopefully better version of a previous post, and the other pic seems to be as new to this thread as I am (I just realized, this is my first post in this thread).

Not my best work, but it was sort of a rush job. I had to leave town for a week and have been busy packing, but felt I should give something back.
