View Full Version : A Big Thank You to the Moderators

Moderators do a lot of work for only the satisfaction of a worthwhile job well done and no other return. As with referees and umpires I do sometimes disagree with the decision but I never forget that someone has shouldered the duty of making the decision when I did not. I guarantee that this forum would turn to poo in pretty short order if there no moderators.

I have to agree, they have to cover a lot of ground, while we punters are only interested in a few threads. We should all try to help as much as possible.

Hey todays Punter can be tomorrows Mod, not that there`s any core difference in either as we`re all just forum members at the end of the day (Except for the grand Creator ,blessings be upon him and his heavenly keyboard) . I only highlight that obvious as sometimes my fellow members seem to forget that and take us to be some hierarchy of evil rule enforcers , when all we`re actually doing is trying to keep this rocking boat afloat in a cyber sea of stormy troubles. Which at the end of the day is what we all want right :(

Yes. Let us give a big thumbsup to the Mods:thumbsup:.
Much like workers at sewage treatment plants they do a job which few people want but which is necessary to keep our civilization running.
And frequently has them hip deep in fecal matter.

The mods are in a very difficult position here. Do they admonish TCO95 for bumping a three year old thread, or simply delete it on the basis it's all 'thanks' posts?
Either way, I'm sure they'll do a great job :D :D

I TOTALLY Aggree mate.
YET--what I don't like seeing --- AND DON'T UNDERSTAND in many, many threads is:
"Blocked"
"Banned"
These are blunt statements !
Quite a few of these 'banned-posters' of whom I had a great respect for, actually opened my eyes and educated me.
What did they do to get banned? I don't know!!!
I'm an old "softcore" and "Elegance" freak, ok ?
That's where I hang out and on the Gen Discussion.
But when I follow a thread, in any Section, and want sometimes to comment, the person I want to debate with has been 'banned'
And, in my opinion banning weakens contributions, information and support for this forum.
Why not suspension for a month or so ?
I wouldn't get so itzy if it wasn't for the fact that a lot of the major contributions to this forum, foundations of this forum, even -- are by people that have "Banned / Blocked" on their badge.
I just want to learn about Directors or Performers --- and some of those guys knew what they were talking about.

Blocking and banning are extremes that the mods don't always like to use. Blocking and banning are for those members who feel the rules don't apply to them. I myself was cited by another mod when I broke the rules. It was unintentional, but, rules are rules and your status on the forum doesn't allow you to ignore what all of us, mods included, have agreed to by joining VEF. We mods have had deep discussions about whether a Vintage or Veteran Member should be banned or blocked. Some have accepted what the decision is and have come back and behaved themselves. Others have come back with attitude and others just go away forever.
So on behalf of the moderator staff, you're welcome. But a big thanks should go out to the membership who know the rules and keep them, so VEF remains the place it is.

Like most people on this forum I appreciate the mods, I have moaned at one, because I did not agree with another poster, his response was well thought out and explained the right of the other person to make his point, and why he was not going to censor the comment, which I saw and agreed with, after calming down!
It is noticable how so many of the early contributors to this thread have gone on to become mods thought!

I used to be a regular on another Army oriented board. I don't spend very much time there anymore because the standard of moderation has dropped. What was a good site has now far two many dim witted morons flaming each other and bigging themselves up.
The moderation on this site is excellent. We all know where we stand and we all know the limits. Long may it continue.

What did they do to get banned? I don't know!!!Some of them put some words in their posts in caps, I think. But seriously, The 'who's been banned and why?' thread (http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/t185126-the-whos-been-banned-and-why-thread.html) might help you with this. It's one of the most interesting threads in the entire forum in my opinion, so interesting that I even read it before I joined. Actually, I think I might have joined just to justify the amount of time I'd spent reading it.

I'm a moderator on another site completely unrelated to erotic anything. I spend so much time chasing spam bots that somehow got through it's like chasing my tail. Block one it just comes back with a different address. I have no idea how this site keeps those down to a minimum --or if they get reported quickly.

Also, if I may, a question to the mods here: Do you enjoy this site less now that you are a moderator? Do you sometimes feel like the complaint department? Or a referee in a trivial bickering match?
Okay, a few questions.

Another example of how SARCASM does not always travel well over the net.
I am in agreement that this site is well run because of the MODS.
Further, they are probably the only ones who realized I WAS JOKING!
I know full well that some of the compliments were posted before the poster was a MOD, that's what made it so funny, to me at least.
You'd think being related to Tony Blair would get me some slack!
Disclaimer : I am not actually related to Tony Blair or Bonny Blair or the Blair Witch Project in fact none of them ever return my calls or e-mails.

Well personally typing for myself in a personal type manner :o
Having agreed to (First) becoming an emerald Mod (Sigh i so miss the green) and then being strong armed into accepting becoming a crimson one (Yeah thank`s Estreeter , remind me to give you a paper cut then put lemon juice on it sometime ;)). I can only say , nope. I`ve lost none of the enjoyment.
Although i have been able to become witness to just how much dedication and effort so many of my fellow members (As despite the differing colours that`s all any of us are, fellow members) put into this forum of ours
Errrrr of course i`ve also been privy to how much hassle daily bombards us thanks to spammers, troll`s plus an assortment of darn destructive devils too devilish to mention
Yet somehow despite the regular attacks we all (As in all of us) keep on keeping on (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-l91O9VxN0) :D:thumbsup:

I agree with Max, my enjoyment of VEF has not diminished since I became a mod. And even those members who make mods reach for the nearest bottle of Pepto-Bismoll are trying to improve VEF in their own way. (BTW my fellow mods, I will not name names, but I think we can all figure out a few who fit the previous statement.)

The worst part of becoming a mod was having to check the threads that I had learned to avoid !
(Not here, but on a related site)
The best part is going on other sites and making the mods miserable.
BTW, Thanks to the mods here, this is my favourite site.

Oh gosh yes; we are a broadminded forum. After becoming a moderator, I used to spend time in Vintage Erotica Talk, which now has its own dedicated moderators. I discovered that there is a cinematic masterpiece in the world called Shemale Sperm Whores 17; which of course implies that there are a minimum of 16 other films within the series. Part of me recoiled with horror, but part of me was also struck with admiration for the sheer brutal directness of the title.
But even here, in the gentlemens' club of General Discussions and News, we do have some truly remarkable threads.

Okay, somewhat off-topic, but my lovely wife has taken to following some threads here in GD&N, after I had her read a few particularly notable posts ("See, honey, it's really a classy site!). She has particularly taken to Scoundrel's writings (I think she has a bit of a crush going on ) and so I just let her read the above post. We're in a coffee shop right now.
She literally - literally - spat a mouthful of coffee all over my laptop at this line. And couldn't stop laughing. While I mopped up the coffee as best I could.
So, yeah, thanks. Big thank you. Thanks a lot. :D

I guarantee that this forum would turn to poo in pretty short order if there no moderators.
I guarantee that if there were no regular contributors (who sometime spend hours and hours sourcing new material) there would be no forum and, therefore, no moderators. Moderators do a good job but sometimes (as on most forums) go over the top with the self-indulgent backslapping.

I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him...
Due to the magic of thread editing and post merging I am now "framed" for starting the thread when in fact some other miscreant, who subsequently deleted his own post (maybe he fell out with the moderators) was the true culprit. But when I first joined VEF, though even then the quality of discussion was unusually high and unusually courteous for anywhere on the internet, let alone a porn site, the need for moderators within the discussions forum was showng, partly in the activities of a few members who couldn't resist the urge to flame other people and troll against them. We get our share of odd characters, and indeed we have been contacted by self-identified aliens from outer space (I shit you not). All I was trying to say in my first post, which I made when still a new and junior member, is that VEF is a very tidy archive and a safe environment for broad minded but responsible people to browse and have a conversation, and this doesn't happen accidentally.
