Not the P***H**SE one's but our four-legged companions what pets do we have?
I've 4 cats now, I had 5 but lost one over the weekend through cancer.
Sorry you lost one of your pets, Wendigo.
I have one cat.
She's a mad, crazy b@stard ... but as loyal as a cat can be ... which aint much but something.

Had and lost three cat`s to the great outdoors ,and one to cancer so i to can sympathize.
Mine's now a Persian (Though i guess she always has been ?) ,would post actual picture but Biscuit shuns publicity, plus if i start uploading images of my pet it`ll be proof i really have lost it
I`m sticking with pedigrees now who don`t particularly desire to venture outside. Mainly as tougher street cat`s would biff their furry faces off , although when it comes to mine i wouldn`t give great odds on their chances myself as she`s more like a dog in some respects . She plays fetch , likes to kill anything moving and destroys the furniture also likes chewing on bones , especially ones with remains of BBQ sauce on them , takes after her Pa you see :D

I had 2 pedigree Birman's years ago, they were great but unfortunately they passed away early as pedigrees appear to be more prone to infections.
I've 3 strays and 1 rescue cat at home and they have the run of the house. 2 of the strays are 12 year olds, the other is a massive but totally daft youngster who sleeps on the edges of chairs or beds and keeps falling off and eats more than I do. I've also an 8 year old bundle of fur we got from a rescue centre.
When you get royally peed off with the world what better than to get the headphones on or get a book out and have a cat sat in your lap (© Kate Bush)

Yeah, I took it for granite. Isn't that marbleous?:D Hah! No, really, I have eleven dogs. Yeah, that's right, eleven. Eight Labs and three Cocker Spaniels. Don't even ask. One good thing, I keep four of the biggest Labs in a front room, and I never lock the door. I mean...who's going to come in?
Anyway, here's my oldest boy, back in the day, Mr. McGee...

He has started to gather moss since last summer, he might be seriously ill.
He just sits there on his own, maybe he needs more active company than one fat man sitting by computer. Now that`s a lie, I`m not fat!
Anyway having eleven dogs looks very cool, if you go somewhere for few days, do you take all of them with you? I mean, finding a good dogsitter for whole gang might be difficult?

I've never had much luck with pets. When I was younger I had a series of hamsters and mice who all came to early ends through illness, or, in the case of a couple of male hamsters, fighting themselves to death.
Hamsters, especially the males, have to live separately otherwise they'll fight. Mine were particularly vicious and when clearing out their cages one day I inadvertently placed them in the same cage albeit briefly. Within seconds they were at each other's throats! Trying to pull them apart was impossible as the both had vice-like grips on each other. Eventually, after an enormous fight with much blood drawing, they were pulled apart by my Father. The injuries sustained by both of them were fatal and they didn't last more than 12 hours after this fight.

I also have 3 Weather Loaches, very intresting fish. They go crazy in the tank when the weather is atmospheric. Also they can jump out of the water to migrate between streams and rivers across the land, so you have to be careful not to leave the tank lid off...Oh I also have a black and white (well ok, silver) fish called Shearer.

Hamsters – reminds me of a true story from my youth which I have had filed away for my memoirs along with several more short stories. .
When I was about twelve my elder sister was teaching at a village school somewhere in rural Norfolk. When she returned home to our parent’s house for the summer holiday she brought the class hamster home for me to look after as I already had a large menagerie of small creatures.
Early in the holiday her University friend Liz arrived for a stay of a few days. There was nothing to dislike about Liz; flawless fair complexion, blue eyes, lovely blonde hair and a fabulous voluptuous figure. Perhaps the only let down were her rather mumsie spectacles.
I ought to say that I am told that my sister was a real looker but to me she was just this annoying person who nagged me about my table manners, washing and bathing more often and not being such a scruffy slob. She always had a queue of admirers and dated a very famous rugby union player who is these days a legend of the game and also a racing cyclist who is still riding as a veteran and is acknowledged as one of the most successful competition cyclists of all time.
Soon after arriving, and being an animal lover, the lovely Liz asked to see my small zoo. She crouched alongside me as I opened one cage and fished out the albino school hamster with me fighting the beginning of a hard on as her left boob brushed my right arm. I let the hamster scamper into her outstretched hands and as she handled the little creature it climbed up her tight fitting cashmere jumper and onto her swelling boobs. She grabbed the excited little creature away from the magnificent knockers which is when disaster struck. The highly agitated hamster just keeled over and died in her hands. Not only did the little fellow die, he went into instant rigor mortis, as hard as stone.
Liz was absolutely distraught but my hard nosed sister immediately blamed me for the little animal’s death. Within half an hour we had buried the hamster in a flower bed in an off cut of cloth provided by my long suffering mother. As I shovelled dirt into the tiny grave the gorgeous Liz was in floods of tears and my erection had suffered a failure.
Fast forward some thirty-five years and the childhood happening is a long forgotten and very faint memory that has not occupied my attention for many a long year. Picture me hammering up the M6 towards a meeting with senior staff from a well known lowland Scottish car dealers. Alone in the car my accompaniment is Radio 4 and some sort of nature programme is being broadcast. As I listen, a scientist is discussing the unusual defence mechanisms of a range of animals. “When in a state of stress brought on by a life threatening situation, the wild hamster of the middle east may suffer a seizure in which it appears to be dead. Within seconds it becomes as rigid as in rigor mortis even though that state should take a considerably longer period” the no-doubt Bill Boddy look-alike boffin continued “In this state the animal is of lesser interest to a predator which may assume that the creature is diseased and ought not to be eaten. Within an hour the creature will revive”. Jolted into a state of attention you can imagine my horror in realising that all those years before we had buried a living animal.
That evening I rang my sister who was more than a little surprised to hear my news. I was able to assuage some of my guilt by pointing out to my sister that, as the holder of a first in biology, she should have known that rigor mortis does not occur as quickly as happened that day. She was not impressed and neither has she maintained the good looks of her twenties although Liz is still a cracker and not unlike the actress Liz Frazer.

Dear me Brian; how do you keep up? :o I got nil  - don't shoot me! I know - it's weird. I'm such a sensitive SOB; I'd get emotionally attached and I'd feel terrible cause especially dogs die young.
Still, I ain't THAT old to consider it - don't have a yard though and this fucked up city; it wouldn't be fair for the poor pet to live in such a sh*tty environment anyway. :(

Same here although mine met her maker in 1999.
My previous post seems shallow.
She was a great companion and a constant source of amusement.
Really took her singing seriously, whenever I played harmonica.
Back then I used to drive my own 5-yard tip truck and she was with me everyday. Even took it upon herself to go to a friends once for help when I got bogged.

Mine died in 2004. I think she was about 16. She'd been in our house since we were teenagers - a stray the nuns gave us; she was a heroic little thing in her way, battling arthritis at the end.
She's buried in the back garden. I regret that now - we should have taken her up the Black mountain and put her to rest there; that was her favourite roving place when she was young.

She's buried in the back garden. I regret that now - we should have taken her up the Black mountain and put her to rest there; that was her favourite roving place when she was young.
:(
I buried mine on a bank near a fruit tree, overlooking both the farmhouse and the approaching private road.
Toward the end she was very hard of hearing. Just days before the pain grew unbearable, this was the spot where I found her, after calling for a long time. It seemed to me she'd picked her spot.
Regarding the 'assistance' she gave when my truck got stuck.
I was in the habit of going for coffee almost everyday at a friends, so whether she got bored, or thirsty, I'll never know. All I do, is that my friend later rolled up with her in her car, wondering where I was, so it was kinda handy anyway. We had little doubt then.
She was very much a creature of habit (as am I), and used to wake me at the same time every morning, before herding cattle for milking and was later invaluable as a sheep dog, as well as a companion.

We had to have one of our cats put down on Sunday - some neurological thing - he was getting weaker and weaker and could barely stand up by time he went to the vet's for the last time. I was weeping all day afterwards, and I'm filling up now, typing this. He was a sweet cat. Never scratched us, and only bit affectionately. He was only eight. My avatar is a picture of him as a very young kitten.

My niece and her family have gone on holiday so I'm looking after their West Highland terrier whilst they're away. They've given me his diet sheet, lead (of course) and his chewy toys. I've been looking after him since yesterday afternoon, and apart from one little 'accident', which was easy to wipe away, everything is going splendidly.

1 cat and 1 dog and they don't get along (big surprise) so the cat (Ebby, named because she is all black with white paws) rules the upstairs and the dog (Daisy, a AKC purebred Bichon Frise) rules the down. She is also the biggest moocher on four legs.
The most fun we have with the dog is when we take her for a walk, because she walks us more.

Well, that's what the wife is for, innit? If I take a vacation, she watches the dogs. I know what you're thinking, if I take a vacation...why does she stay at home? Well, it's a vacation, innit?
:D
Currently I don't have anything as I've just moved, had dogs for years, also had a rabbit - quite interesting when you own a Doberman and several cats. We had dogs before but I was generally too young to remember much about them. The rabbit was found wild, some b*stard had dug out the burrow, killed the doe and left the babies, a neighbour who had a menagerie of animals took two and I took the other. Every so often I'd have someone take the dog round the front of the house and distract him and let the rabbit loose to run about. Catching him was easy, he'd hop right up to me if I held something leafy in my hand, he'd avoid almost everyone else though so that became my job. Yes I am a rabbit whisperer. One night he escaped and I reckon the cats finally got to him. The dog hated the cats, they lived on the shed roof while he was around, well until he caught one of them one day. One bite and he made bits of the cat. A few years later my father accidentally ran over the dog, he had decided to sleep behind the car and my dad simply took off the handbrake and rolled backwards down the slope and over the dog. Broke my little heart that did. Then we got another Dobe, he unfortunately got cancer and had to be put down.
Currently the dog at home is a Kerry Blue terrier who is lovely but very, very demented. He's like the energiser bunny with ADHD and on speed, great fun though.
Dobes make great pets - I know they have a fearsome reputation, but with both dogs I could take a bone out of their mouth while they were chewing on it and they'd sit and look at me, waiting for me to return it.
The first one was brilliant, he was intelligent enough to realise that he scared people so he never barked at people, he just stood there and stared at them. He also loved playing football, which consisted of me chasing him, he'd wait for me to tire and stop running, he'd stand maybe 10/12 feet away, drop the ball and look at me, head on one side as if to say 'come on then, get the ball - if you can'. When I was 14/15 I could run all day and it's no wonder why, sadly now I've gone from being fit to fat. I needs a dog.

I've had lots of pets - three Yorkshire Terriers, one Great Dane, one Alsatian, four cats, two rabbits, and I loved them all
A bird would have been a great wish of mine, but birds are meant to fly...

Ok time for a bit of thread resurrection. :)
Here's my two babies. I sometimes treat them better than I would some people.
This boy is Domino, he doesn't stand still for a photo. :o

And this little girl is Binky, she's a year older but half the size of domino.

Here's my little girl, Sadie. Ok, well, she's not so little, gotta be around 100lbs. now. I was there when she was born, on Christmas Eve, at my brother's house. She was no bigger than an eggplant, kinda purple and shiny too. At first, I wasn't going to get a puppy. Every weekend when I saw the herd, they kept getting cuter. Plus, this one stuck out of the group. She had this funny little howl when she saw me. At the 8 week mark, just before the first couple was due to come look at the puppies, I caved in.
For the first 5 years, she never left my side. She came to work with me, spent hours in my truck with me plowing snow, and went to see her dwindling family every weekend. Now its just her father and sister left. My brother and I wept like a babies the day her mother died. Which makes me fear the day I lose her. Now, she stays home during the day since I switched jobs. But, I still get a big howl when I walk in the door.

Euphrates Cato, (see avatar) an 8 year old female long haired Javanese. The avatar photo is misleading: she only weighs 3.5 pounds. Unquestionably the smartest non-primate I've ever seen.
Just one example: she regularly fishes my motorcycle keys out of the brandy glass where I keep them and then carries them (in her mouth) over to her food dish and drops them in. That way (in her mind) I'll be sure to remember to feed her before I go to work.
If I've been out of the house for too long (I work a lot of 'doubles') she'll hide the keys so I can't leave. She's even smart enough to hide the keys in different places; under furniture, in the garage, behind the toilet. Now mind you, she's NOT playing with the keys and just swatting them around. To hide them in the garage she has to carry them through a cat door: and up a flight of stairs to hide them behind the toilet.

My two died some time ago and the She Devil said she would never have another.
Managed to talk her around and on March 30th when she has been weaned (the pup not the She Devil) we will once more have the patter of spoilt dog wandering around the house.
Photos to follow.

This particular name has been given to him because...

Still, he's not unreasonably fat as he manages to exercise a lot (climbing up trees, hunting and the like...).
