If I remember correctly in the opening title sequence of Matt Helm(Dean Martin) film "The Silencers" I think she is the second woman who does a striptease followed by the ultra-sexy Cyd Charisse(legs up to her armpits) who nearly reveals all(god how I would love to find something nude of that woman!) That whole sequence is worth recording the next time it is shown.

In the actual movie sequence, the camera cuts away before she starts to pull the dress apart. Dammit... :-[

Hmmmm: then the video must have shown more than the clip I saw on internet a while back? Anyway could you upload that original version of the scene ? I'm sure many of us would be HUGELY grateful to you!

And about Cyd's leges, I think you're in good company -- most film critics consider Cyd Charisse's legs the most beautiful to ever appear on film. And I certainly agree...

I'd be grateful to me too mate but alas I cannot do so because my computer is too far away from the video machine AND I don't have any leads-I also am not sure how big the file would be if I could do it-the best thing to do would be to scour the Web for a DVD of it. play it and rip it from there. Sorry about that.

Sadly, though, this does confirm what I remembered about seeing the strip sequence years ago. When Cyd Charisse (the last girl, dressed in red) starts to unzip her dress, the camera cuts away just as she gets as high as her thigh. So you never see the full dress open to reveal the side of her fabulous ass.

A Euro friend insists that when he saw Silencers in France many years ago, the French version does have her strip all the way up to her armpit. I know that several films had "US" versions and "Euro" versions, but I've never seen the French version of Silencers so I don't know whether that may just be my friend's memory playing tricks on him.

On a final note about the strippers two things have struck me, 1) the first one looks rather stern and has long hair but when it gets to the bit where she opens her dress and the title appears across her chest I think its another girl because her hair is a little shorter or at least tidier and she is smiling and has a lovely face, then when it she turns her back the original face re-appears (have a look and see what I mean you will have to pause it just as she is about to peel off. And 2) why does the second one only take her knickers off and leave her top on? and incase you were thinking of slowing the clip down to see if you can see anything before she gathers up the boa, forget it I tried several times on a video and its done so quickly you couldn't see anything damn it!

I'd like to see the Euro version myself but thats not going to be shown here.

I just stumbled across this thread so I thought I would put in my comment regarding the Silencers. I first saw it in a US theater during its initial release. Cyd did indeed strip all the way up, and it cut away as she opened her dress, using the dress to wipe the image change. Years later, I saw this again on television, and the strip cut away much earlier. In the later VHS and now the DVD release, the strip cuts away early. I think what happened was the master was cut for television release. Later this cut master was used for the VHS and now the DVD release. I suspect the missing footage is lost or taken by the editor and will never be seen again.

David Friedman notes in the extras to the DVD of Trader Hornee, that he cut his master by a few seconds to get an R rating and the missing footage is gone. This may be a common problem with older films, as the studios probably did not foresee home video or cable (who did?) and after initial theatrical release saw only television as a secondary market for films. What could they lose by permanently cutting them?

Sometimes, it's even worse. I recently saw the German DVD of I, the Jury. The film master shows all sorts of wear. In the full frontal nude scene of Barbara Carrera, there's a sudden jump as a few frames of film are missing. This was actually a common occurance as some projectionists would cut out a few frames from a film for their personal collection of nudity. A print played in one city for a week and was then shipped to another and how could anyone prove where it happened, if they even wanted to.

Yes great shots - originally it was on UK tv with the full scene (1972 for sure) and also in the original film (1966). It drives me nuts that they cut it, also the Nancy Kovak scene has been trimmed where she flashes her bits and bottom. Have to hunt Europe for it!

Well, I did get the DVD from America. The end part of Cyd's strip (armpit etc) was actually in the Trailer originally (NOT the opening sequence, the Trailer for the film). They include no extras on the DVD (duh) except 2 trailers for other films. I think if you get the 80's VHS you will get the full Nancy Kovak scene at least as it was on TV with it in 1986. Like you said Mr Greenman, someone must have the Cyd scene. Thanks.

The american DVD cuts the scene at the crucial moment sadly so there is nothing to show you. The original trailer (not the opening) in fact sowedthe zip going all the way up so better watch out for the Silencers trailer, it must be somewhere Greenman. Cheers.

I am sure it is, odd that it is not in the Extras on the release of the film, nowadays these are always padded out with strange, quirky things like trailers and interviews. Maybe one day we might get lucky. However this is more for her thread so time to get back on track for Daliah.

Daliah Lavi (born Daliah Lewinbukh on October 12, 1942) is an Israeli actress, singer and model.
Born in Shavei Zion, British Mandate of Palestine, she studied ballet in Stockholm, Sweden, where she appeared in her first film Hemsöborna (1955). Returning to Israel, her career took off properly in 1960, when she started appearing in a large number of European and American productions. Fluent in several languages, she has also been in German, French, Italian, Spanish and English-language films.
Lavi's film appearances include Vincente Minnelli's Two Weeks in Another Town (1962), Mario Bava's gothic classic La Frusta e il corpo, or The Whip and the Body (1963), the role of The Girl in Lord Jim, and the first Matt Helm movie The Silencers (1966) opposite Dean Martin. However, her most famous role is probably as 'The Detainer/007' in Casino Royale (1967).
