View Full Version : Feedback on retouch (w/logo) VS. original scan (greased)

Hairy muffy greetings VEF'ers :)

I was wondering if you could give yef a little feedback on a retouched scan with new logo, compared to the original scan without logo?

I scanned (without descreening) in 600DPI. Then I fiddled around with the scan in Photoshop CS3 (bicubic resizing to 150DPI+cropping+clone tool+gaussian blur+unsharp mask+colour level/saturation/shadow/highlight adjustment).

I have kinda "overkilled" myself on this scan to find a consistent scanning style, and I used one of my most "greased up" mags (but, I'm sure you guys have seen more greased mags than this :p).

Do you prefer another positioning of the 69'er logo (it is placed bottom left and is almost invisible on the thumbs -> the goal was to make a "less eye catchy logo")?

This mag is very grainy. Do you prefer more blur or noise removal? (I didn't want to blur out the details too much, so I only used 0.3 of Gaussian Blur - I think Despeckle and Surface Blur removed too many details).

Thanks in advance for comments ;)

I'm not a graphics guru by far, but you deserve at least some kind of input on this...

Your retouch is much, much better...I think it looks fine, and is beyond acceptable for sharing...

Appreciate the input AYHJA :) The mag is 20 years old so it was in bad shape. This model "Bettina" was part my introduction to adult mags in the 80's, so I wanted to give her the "ultimate makeover" :D (although she has a "grumpy look" about her in most of her modeling shots, like if she doesn't enjoy it ).

BTW, there is something *really weird* about this particular scan that gives me gooosebumps when I think about it. My idea for the "69'er" logo (now, top left of the retouch) was kind of accidental. Now, go ahead and look at the number of the page: 69. I tell you, this coincidence seems like a sign. But, bad or good?

I know it may be hard to believe, but I didn't have the page number "69" in mind when I made the 69'er logo

I went one step further with the current retouch to remove the "grain" and smoothen the scan by adding the Photoshop filter Despeckle:

The next page of the scan was much worse than the retouch above...

I'll probably work a little more on it.

Then, there is finally the last page of the set...

All those scrathes is like knives in the eyes, eh? :p
