Apparently Doris started off as a dancer and wasn't the goody-two-shoes she's always portrayed. She started singing after an accident ruled out a dancing career. Here are some more pics. She was very attractive when she was younger.

Romance on the High Seas 1948 was her debut movie
and what a performance, what a debut.
She was perfect in that and hard to belive
it was her first attempt.
Warner were trying to get into the Musical movies the MGM dominated at the time.
By the early 60s movies started getting sleazy
with actresses like Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield coming on the scene and America had an
obsession with the female breast....Sophia Loren cashed in on the same obsession.
Suddenly we were into the swinging sixties and heavy sex scenes in all movies.
Doris Day with her apple pie innocence and wholesome image suddenly seemed a bit out of place.
She eventually gave up the movies and concentratd on light, TV comedy.

It was revealed that Marty Melcher, Doris's husband had embezzled money, not only from Doris, but from her son Terry
as well as zsa zsa Gabor and Kirk Douglas.

The judge estimated that he had embezzled $66 million from Doris alone.

It seems that Marty Melcher had been a bit of a svengali during those 17 years that he was married to Doris... dictating her film career, negotiating her film deals, embezzling millions of dollars along the way !

Marty died in 1968 aged 52

But for good or ill, there is no doubt that Marty was a huge part of Doris's life.

Her film career over, Doris settled down to life on her 11 acre estate in Carmel, keeping herself busy supporting animal charities.

Over the years there have been reports of people seeing a little old lady stealing through the streets of Carmel after midnight rounding up stray dogs and emaciated cats and putting them in her car........could it be Doris ?

What can I say? I knew Doris was a fine figure of a lass, but this vid made from the 1966 film "Glass Bottom Boat" really shows what she`s got. Mond you, with a voice like hers, she needs a decent pair of lungs to hit those notes :)

A few clips from the 1965 Film, Do Not Disturb. Good, but doesn't quite do justice to her fine, fine ass! From the web...
Bob Hope stated with dead-on accuracy that Day had the best behind in the Hollywood of her time and dubbed her “jut-butt.”
I also saw, on of all things, the TCM site that he called her JB on the air. Now we know why!
I can't find the quote, but James Garner also said she had by far the best rear in hollywood.
She clearly worked out....I will at some time put up a clip of her from her TV show in a bikini, showing off more ab muscle than in the image from Glass Bottom Boat, taken years before!

I suggested a fake, but he insisted that the pictures looked line Ms Day, looking kind of scared at the camera but spreading her legs as was done there. Seems Bob had offered her lots of money for a nude photo shoot but she had turned him down until he offered to donate the monies to her animal charities.
I would love to see copies of these picts if any has them. Can anyone confirm or deny this story?

If she ever posed like you described, you would have no problem finding images on the web. The magazine you suggest she posed for started in 1965, when she was 43, a mega star, and rich. I'm certain she would not have been offered enough to throw away her career which she would have done by posing as you described in 1965.

But I knew and trusted my friend and am sad to see my hopes of oneday viewing these photos dashed on the rocks of reality. :( But you did make one mistake. You confused the founding date of P***th***e (1965) with the date I stated that these photos were published (late 70s). That would make her a dozen years older and out of her professional life. You have to remember, not only was she a huge singing star during and after WW2, but was in movies from the late 40's and was the number one box office star for 5 straight years!
From Wiki, As of 2009, Day was the top-ranking female box office star of all time and ranked sixth among the top ten box office performers (male and female)
I assume that's adjusted gross, but still. It would be like Julia Roberts doing Penthouse at the height of her fame, only many, many years earlier. Even if she said she would have liked to pose nude, she would only do it for Pl@yboy.

for Richard1968 - Thank you for you candidness. I understand your argument, and the statement about it all coming out on the internet has the ring of truth about it. But I knew and trusted my friend and am sad to see my hopes of oneday viewing these photos dashed on the rocks of reality. :( But you did make one mistake. You confused the founding date of P***th***e (1965) with the date I stated that these photos were published (late 70s). That would make her a dozen years older and out of her professional life. Maybe then she would have considered that path a little easier than before. :confused:

If it were in the late 70s she would have been close to 60. If it had been rumored that she posed topless, like some celebrities did for pl**bo*. I might be able to consider it was possibly true. It is very hard for me to consider the possibility of her "spreading her legs" for any magazine to be true. Maybe there was someone who posed in the 70s that looked close enough to her to cause your friend to make an honest mistake.

like with the Barbara Eden you tube clip I found, stumbled across this clip as well...holy Moley! Here she is on the Tonight Show, with Johnny Carson. 1974( She was 52 at the time) If only the quality was better! Must have been really, really cold in the studio that day...and she was clearly braless....
CRAP!!!! Clip just freezed 1 minute into it's 6 minute length. Don't know what the issue is with part one. I have downloaded it several times(4-5), seems like it would play on it's own, then not on windows media player...but also has been a very small sized clip...don't download it yet, just look at the caps, pt2 strangely enough seems just fine.(EDIT: Still can't get it to convert properly, sorry..will try later)
