How to set WinRar to make split/spanned .rar archives like these:

filename.part01.rar
filename.part02.rar
filename.part03.rar
etc...

Steps to take:

click with the right mouse-button on the file you want to .rar
WinRar > "Add to archive..."
in the field "Archive name" set the folder where to the .rar will be made and give it a shortened/cryptic name like: "C":\foldername\HSMO.rar
in the "Split to volumes, bytes" field set the size to: 104857000 (almost 100MB) / 209714000 (almost 200MB) / 314571000 (almost 300MB) / 419428000 (almost 400MB) / 524285000 (almost 500MB) (choose filesize that fits you best to upload, do not use bigger then 500MB when uploading to rapidshare otherwise free users can no longer download it)
click the "Advanced" tab and set the password when you want
click OK and the split .rar's are made
always check if the .rar's extract correct before upload

here's a bit more visual guide to make multipart rar and 7zip archives...
image1 in rar guide shows settings that integrate rar to shell ie. to make it appear on right-click on any item in windows explorer.

both images show splitting at about 200MB per file.

if slideshow is too fast, load it to (for example) irfanview, and go 'options->extract all frames' to get single images...
