It's long been rumoured that Cowell's "secret" affairs are a cover. The story goes that these "affairs" are always with women who work for him for good reason - they are supposedly contractual. IOW they don't exist. If you can't work out what they are supposed to be covering up for then I'm sure Google will be your friend.

If Cowell was really of that persuasion, then why would he hide it; the whole industry is full of openly gay and bisexual men. most of whom are the top people. I think jealousy is one reason everyone would like to think it's all bull; just like when darren day was in top form... face it, who would have liked to have been able to boast that they'd slept with the same girls he had..?? Even now, would there not be jealousy, or plain envy, aimed towards Cowell; due entirely to the power, money, and list of conquests he has..???

Would be pretty disappointed in Dannii if she's banging a git like Simon Cowell. Always thought her type would be the guy she ended up marrying (and recently separating). Cowell seems so effeminante.

checked the dates more closely. seems that dannii and cowell were 'bumping parts' around 2007/8...... little before baby ethan popped out... so sadly it looks like she's stuck with being linked with kris "never heard of him until he was with her rugby 'star' model" smith, for a few years yet; due to him more likely having made one half of the baby.

I wish. The Kylie book (providing we're talking about the same one -- the big white one) was extremely tame, a handful of shots aside (and even they were tame). I wish it was like the Madonna-book, or that she -- a flirtation with tiny gold hot pants aside -- really pushed the barriers with her music vids. The Agent Provocateur ad was as risqué as she got.

Dannii's done several calendars featuring toplessness and see-through, and Playboy (and would do so again by her own admission). Always thought this was how she tried to outdo her more famous sister. Like cries for her attention. I know she has a lot of club hits in Europe, but globally is virtually musically anonymous compared to Kylie.

But going back to the original point, when you read their interviews, Dannii will regularly throw in something risqué, as she's done above about the clit's nerve endings or size mattering. I don't recall Kylie doing that.

Piece in today's Metro newspaper, suggesting that Dannii may be returning to the UK version of The X Factor, to replace Kelly Rowland; her replacement for last year's show.

Hope it's true, and though it seems unlikely; particularly with recent revelations; stranger things have happened. Let's be honest, who'd have backed boring Louis Walsh to still be there after 9 solid years of whinging and whining over every small detail of the other acts performances...??

I had read about Hutchence 'corrupting Kylie'. I read (years ago) she (allegedly) tried cocaine with him, but drew the line at a threesome.

Her relationship with Hutchence was also in that period where she was trying to shed her wholesome, girl-next-door look and become a lot more risque and be accepted as a serious artist. Remember, also, this was at a time when Madonna led the way for provocation. Now everybody does it.

Still, Kylie's relatively demure in interviews. In some ways, she almost seems to still play on that wholesome image.

I know Dannii's trying to play up that bad girl image but, for some reason, every time I read one of her comments it sounds more like an insecure woman screaming for attention and trying to portay herself as brazen and confident.

I recall in a Maxim or FHM photoshoot years ago, she mentioned when she checks into a hotel she checks in under her pornstar name 'Pussy Jones' (name of your first pet, plus name of first street you lived in) and that waterfalls were the best place to have sex in. Those are the sort of comments she's always throwing in.

I read her book and was really disappointed with how superficial it was, although most celeb bios are obviously. At one point she was talking about some tour where they got rowdy and she said something like, 'I don't want to tell you what we got up to on that tour.' WtF? Yes, this is why I'm reading the book, exactly for stuff like that.

She would've had an amazing life with her weight battles, divorce, Playboy, living in the shadow of her sister, struggling to make her own identity, but really just glosses over everything. Her book could've actually been an inspiration for a lot of people (and especially young women) trying to find their place in life, but it's really just a press-kit.

It feels like Dannii's been trying to find herself since. I thought she had in recent years with appearances as a panelist on several shows, etc. She'd made a name for herself in her own right.

Have read a lot of bios over the years, and I understand lots of them are bubbly and superficial. This one seemed more so. Compare it to, say, Andre Agassi's bio, which is in-your-face, honest, and raw.

Read the book ages ago, and it didn't make much of an imprint on me, but here are a handful of things which I think were underdeveloped:

- her marriage break-up to Julian McMahon. Barely touched upon. Think she just put it down to conflicting careers and time spent apart.
- the decision to get implants. Would seem a huge decision to make for mine, but she put it down to low self-esteem and flat boobs after losing weight following the break-up.
- no mention of her cheesecake calendars, (am talking about the ones where she went topless and see-through -- would seem a cry for attention).
- posing for Playboy -- she put it down purely to a financial thing. That she to this day says she would pose again suggests to me there was additional motivations for posing.
- the stripper thing. I recall reading at the time reports from eyewitnesses who said it was very risque. She just dismisses it as harmless and, as aforementioned, blames the club manager. (The club manager might've put her under a camera, but he didn't force any contact between her and the stripper).
- one of her tours where she says she got up to no good (as in excessive partying), but says nothing about it. Think she said something like, 'We swore we'd never talk about it'. (Then why write the damn book?)

I work in editing, and understand that a lot of bios are press-kits. But given she always tries to play-up some bad girl image, thought she might tell-all. Wouldn't be surprised if she's committed infidelity or had some homosexual tryst or posed naked in an attempt to get more notoriety than Kylie. I imagine it would burn that Dannii worked really hard to get any recognition, and then Kylie wears a pair of little gold hotpants and gains worldwide fame.

But Dannii just glosses over everything. Don't know if she just wants to deny those truths from the public or whether she hasn't even admitted a lot of that stuff to herself.

Of course, she might be a perfectly balanced, capable woman, and I'm reading way too much into it, but have always thought she comes across as insecure and needy, trying to emerge from her sister's shadow and make a name and identity for herself, (which she's finally done, but more so as a judge on crappy shows).

One other thing since I'm rambling on, I like both Kylie and Dannii (as in they're freaking hot), but I'm not a huge fan of their music.

I can see why Kylie's made it huge, but she has only a handful of songs (Confide in Me, Red-Blooded Woman, maybe On a Night Like This and Get Outta My Way) which have had any lasting appeal for me, as in I get a buzz when they come on the radio.

Don't know any of Dannii's music and living in Australia, I'm not aware of her being musically recognised with any real popularity or appeal.

Going back to when they were young, Kylie monotoned her songs, while Dannii had a booming voice and was a ripping talent, but it exploded for Kylie while it didn't for Dannii, (or at least nowhere near the same level).

I've always wondered how she's reconciled that. In the book, she talks about having all these club hits in Europe, but surely it'd be human nature for her to yearn for her sister's appeal.

Have mentioned elsewhere through this thread that it seems she's tried to make up for it with shock appeal (e.g. being risque in interviews, posing for Playboy, cheesecake calendars) in an attempt to bridge that chasm.

As I said in one of the previous posts, she's got a booming voice and is (was?) a ripping talent, but just didn't have that same ineffable x-factor, which Kylie did.

Think the Minogues are comparable (metaphorically) with Jeff and Beau Bridges. Beau's a great actor and has an extensive resume, but he doesn't have the star appeal of Jeff.

Acting, music, even pro-wrestling, so much of it borders on that intangible x-factor. If you have it, you can be a mediocre actor. Look at Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1980s and 1990s. If you don't, you can be talented, but just never reach the same stage.

One other thing since I'm rambling on, I like both Kylie and Dannii (as in they're freaking hot), but I'm not a huge fan of their music.

I can see why Kylie's made it huge, but she has only a handful of songs (Confide in Me, Red-Blooded Woman, maybe On a Night Like This and Get Outta My Way) which have had any lasting appeal for me, as in I get a buzz when they come on the radio.



Not a great fan of either musically, but watching the Jubilee concert on TV last night, it struck me that the big difference between the two Minogue sisters' careers is, as several people have suggested, Kylie just seems to have more of the 'X-Factor', that hint of star quality that Danni maybe lacks- Kylie really is a great performer on stage- give her a big occasion and a big audience, and she delivers.

That was also evident when Kylie made it big on the soap Neighbours. She wasn't a great actress (typical soap actress), and whilst she was pretty she wasn't outstandingly gorgeous like a lot of the starlets cast nowadays, but she just had something, (and it wasn't just her ass).

both dannii and kylie earned their stripes as actress's in the admittedly hard slog of soap operas, as well as doing aussie talent shows, before they even graced our own shores. whatever you may think, they have both worked hard for what they've got.......

while kylie had kept mostly to singing, with a little lingerie designing and modelling along the way, Dannii had a huge folio of things she's done...... acting, modelling, clothes design, singing, talent show judge, perfumes, and no doubt other stuff ive forgotten....!!

end of the day.... what would you rather have as a role model.... someone who's clearly worked hard, or someone who said a funny line in a mock docu-soap like TOWIE or BigBro...???

One thing which has disappointed me (and I'm sure countless others) with Dannii is that whilst she's done tons of calendars and cheesecake shots, she never really features her butt. She might fear living in the shadow of Kylie's gold-hot-panted ass and coming up short, but I think Dannii's is just as spectacular, although in a more buxom way.
