I'm curious about the Twitter link here at VEF - Twitting is not something that I do myself (other than my daft postings):o but I took a look via the link in the banner...now i'm confused.

It seems to be just a load of ID requests  getting 're-tweeted' (if that's the correct term?)

What is the deal with that? ... and what's the point??
It just seems to be a string of links back to the forum for each ID req.

Like you say... there's enough 'twits' on here, 'tweeting' on about various things.... I don't do it either, but I do use Facebook on occasion.

Celebrities use it to try and appear interesting, so I'm told; but often make themselves look even more vacuous than they already were thought to be...!!?? And footballers also use it to discuss tactics, pay rates, and other big time topics with their legions of 'fans'....!!!

All just a bunch of Tw**ts if you ask me..!!???

;) Thanks pheg http://ist1-2.filesor.com/pimpandhost.com/4/2/5/6/42568/F/o/Y/8/FoY8/camel-smiley.gif (http://www.pimpandhost.com/image/9867432-original.html) But what is the point of just tweeting out the forums' ID requests ??

If it brings in 'traffic' to the forum, I can see a point.
but surely it would get more hits if it were tweeting " Another set added to the XYZ thread "
or " Mr Bond is sending OO5 on a mission " or something.., ;):D

My god if it's even more vaccuous than facebook. avoid. Remember this place reccomends filesonic and pimpnhost :D

Many people joined Twitter because "celebs have it". The most redundant "social" network ever. Why joining Twitter if you're on Facebook anyway? FB is redundant enough itself.

Anyway, you can "like" VEF under the top banner but there's no VEF site or group on FB. What's up with that?

Never went near twitter. I'm too scared.

especially when 'celebs' like footballer Ryan Gaggs  or is it Giggs? try to sue most of the twittering classes when they don't like facts they might reveal

Maybe the contributing members here should get together & start it before someone else does?
BTW - prolly don't ask me to  most of fb is beyond me. :o
.. but i have seen blogs that update links on facebook, and that makes some kind of sense, it's then another portal to drum-up numbers in that respect.

 which is what made me curious in the first place, ..or bored enough to click it. Sometimes ignorance is bliss
Definitely so in this case :D

only thing with someone here starting a facebook page for VEF, is two fold......

1, the page founders name will appear to everyone who joins, losing the anonymity of said page starter
2, each time anyone else posts to the fb page, it will appear on everyone elses fb page who "likes" the VEF page... imagine 'aunt maud', or that girl you fancied from school, seeing what you get up to behind closed doors if your into summat a little more naughty (thread wise) than just a few random topless celebs..???

Though I have nothing to hide (yeah, right), i for one am not volunteering to start one....lol.

Me neither, I was persuaded to join up, luckily I used an Email account I rarely use, now I never use it :(

I mean I only have half a dozen friends on it, all from here, and I'm bombarded with Emails, Fred has changed his status, Charlie likes your photo WTF, I don't need to know that.

Imagine that load of crap a hundred times worse or more, and if I did use FB to contact a relative, they would think most of my friends were deranged. No offence :D

Does Twitter need any more wankers?

No but this place gobbles them up - hence the advertising? if that's what this is on the social networking. ??

Pheg, a 'user group' wouldn't have a single originator, just a members list - a bit like the Groups setting here @ VEF , but maybe aunt maud would also like to know that she has just been tagged in a photo on the MILF thread :D

BTW rotobott, you can tweek your settings so that notifications are only there when you log-in to fb. but hands down - no argument, social networking is only for the self important and wimin wot shop ;)

My 2p/2c* (*delete as appropriate, although if you are in the Euro I suggest you opt to delete 2c!).

The twitter link is surely the natural consequence of having a modern celeb section (which I would happily bin).

FBk: if you use it then you're probably too young to be a member here :D

nice joke on the euro crisis.....;)

i dont agree on losing the modern section, which i also believe is actually far more busy than the classics..?? correct me if im wrong mods.......??

since when did f'bk have an age limit..?? im 41, and talk to old school friends and current friends a couple of times a week or more; saves a fortune on phone bills or texts; and saves me having to speak to some of them face to face.. as they're as ugly as me..!!! lol. :D

we were told that those pages were used to inform about server-changes or maintenance work, but it seems it doesn't ever happened. which speaks for us, somehow :D

i guess it's simply a try to find new members.. no idea if it has any benefit. it definitly has no benefit for anyone who is already member of VEF. just disturbing social network logo crap bullshit.

A fallback position for news if VEF ever got seriously hijacked/hacked (Again)
as has happened to several forums over the years, sounds more feasible

As those tweets are like putting pop corn on your lure to catch a school of white pointer sharks
cant see it was done for marketing purposes
