I am afraid thta Makem Land is unknown territory to this inhabitant of the south-west of the kingdom (a.k.a Lyonesse, just down the road from Camelot). Perhaps we should send out an expedition to investigate. Can we use your photograph as a guide? Or should we listen out for the picturesque local expressions and briny folksongs?

Meglos,
I'll jolly well have you know that I can afford such an affectation too. On special occasions (when my unemployment benefit is paid) I like to dilute my supermarket own- label lager with cheap corner shop "lemonade."
This, I will partake of in my garden, enjoying the evening sunlight dancing on the partially dismantled Ford Cortina and the abandoned shopping trolleys, all the while enjoying the laughter of local children as they fight each other with knives.

The country in whence i dwell had a name now erased , and is being run by men who never were. It was formerly a place in time but now merely a side plate of history . Existing only to collect left overs and to provide a receptacle for self consummation , it`s chief import is jealousy and main export = Banality  ...

Apologies for sounding so negative and bitter fellow members , it's just that to know what could have been compared to what is can trouble me somewhat .Don't just mean this country either , i`m talking worldwide .Hey i`m having a slightly bad day due to blank faced bureaucracy that's all , usually i try to keep cheerful (As to do any less defeats the purpose of living) but right now it's feeling like an uphill climb to a smile .Ahhh so why the hell am i writing all this , right ? . Therapeutic i guess , plus maybe something a bit different from the norm ...

Aarrggh i`m mentally slapping my warped brain out of this stilted stagnation, as although i have no obvious religion i do believe nothing is ever lost providing one resists the urge to surrender ...

Erm excuse me did anyone order pomposity from room service  ...

I will now sit on my hands ,and be quiet (Cue rapturous cheers) :o ...

Although how i`ll then press post is a secret known only to my priest and bank manager :D ...

When God created the world he made Australia first and saw he had made a real pigs ear of a country with 47 different varieties of animals that would chew your face off.

Then he made America and it was a bit better.

After a lot of practice he made France and it was near perfect. When he knew he could create the perfect country he made Wales.

And that's where I am :)

Just a shame about the people really :D

Perth, Western Australia. As my avatar hints at, it's the most isolated city in the world with another having over one million inhabitants (1.6 million), the next nearest being Adelaide, 1750 km(air) or 2700 km (road). The true arse end of the Earth! Very clean city with excellent white sand beaches, but the suburban sprawl is unrelenting (covers a similar area to Greater London, but with less than 1/5 of the population). Almost entirely middle class living off the proceeds of a mining boom, with the only conservative (state or federal) government in the country. As a result, we have one of the highest car ownership rates per capita anywhere. Oftentimes, this combination of these factors lends Perth to be dubbed as "Dullsville", and I must say at times I'd agree. If it weren't for my family, I'd have left for (the more urbane and cosmopolitan) Melbourne.

Sorry to hear that Tam. Have a safe (eventual) journey.

I am in a city famous for being bombed - so famous that the Nazi hierachy invented a word for it.

But on Saturday I am going to the Welsh borders for a weekend of motor sport.

And in two weeks I will be in Scotland for more motor sport, on the Earl of Moray's land.

Could be worse, you could be stuck in Middlesborough. This place was the insperation for the film, Bladerunner.

P.S. Where the bl**dy hell is San Luis Obsipo? I know it's in California, obviously.
